I think Reid, Pelosi, and Specter just stabbed Pat Leahy (and us) in the back.
Here’s what I think just went down.

If there’s one person I trust in the Senate, it’s Pat Leahy. There are many on both sides of the aisle that want to take Pat’s gavel away in the Judiciary Committee, but, too bad, Pat’s got the seniority and the gavel. (I wish that Pat chaired the Senate Intelligence Committee, but I guess we get what we’re given.)

In case you haven’t noticed, all the REAL action in terms of uncovering the crimes of the Gonzales/Bush/Cheney crew have been coming from the Senate Judiciary Committee. Most recently, they put Gonzales in a vice: either he cops to perjury, or he reveals what he knows about the so-called Terrorist Surveillance Program. And just as Pat knew a lot about the Ashcroft-Comey thing, I’ll bet Pat has a ton of back channel info on the TSP.

Now, that investigation is getting to the short strokes, so Pat had to clue Specter in to what he knows. And that’s when Specter flew to Bush and brain stormed on what to do next. Emergency legislation to legalize (and thus neutralize) all of dirt Pat has on Gonzo/Bush/Cheney was their answer. And it was sold to Reid and Pelosi like this:

“If you don’t help us pass the new law, not only will we paint you weak on terror, but, if you don’t stop Leahy, the calls for Impeachment will grow so loud you won’t be able to stop them. And you KNOW you can’t win if you go down that road.”

PS: If Bush recess appoints a Gonzo replacement, it’ll be because Reid let him.

1. Pelosi doesn't seem to be too bad, but Reid is a real stinker.

9. On a PBS-TV Charlie Rose Interview about 2 weeks ago, Pelosi said * 'is very
courageous' and that 'he is a lovely man from a lovely, patriotic family'--whereupon ALL (US and worlwide) viewers rushed for their nearest wastebaskets to THROW UP!!

Nancy Pelosi, Reid and nearly every 2004 elected Dems. rode in within our modern - traitorous Trojan Horse!!

Yes, the Dems are our 2004 gift= A TROJAN HORSE!!

Since they opened our eyes especially clearly w/ BOTH Houses passing warrantless FISA spying approval on all levels of listening/viewing our every communication -here and worldwide-overseen by GONZO!-we feel like an abused spouse who finally "gets it" that the abuser will NEVER stop until he kills us....

7. Not sure if that is everything but you certainly may be on to some of
it anyway.

Regardless, the Dem leadership did not have to do this. Now, according to Alter on Keith's show, Gonzales can evesdrop if any one of us are talking to someone out of country.

How can the Dems attack Gonzales as being so bad then turn around and give him basically unlimited powers?
