I find it odd that the KIDS name THIS guy as their hero..he was hurt in the crash, and yet got the kids off the bus.. the guy , that *²stupid³ fawned over and met with privately, got to safety and then went back to help..

Jeremy Hernandez leaves the Interstate 35W bridge after he helped rescue youngsters from a school bus after the bridge collapsed on Wednesday. Dunwoody College of Technology is making resources available so that Hernandez can attend.

If school bus evacuator Jeremy Hernandez wants to resume learning auto mechanics at Dunwoody College of Technology, he can do so without charge. The Minneapolis school made that offer to Hernandez’s family Saturday.

Hernandez drew national attention when he played a lead role in the evacuation of 61 kids and staff from a school bus caught up in last week’s Interstate 35W bridge collapse.

In news coverage afterward, Hernandez said that he was working as a youth worker at Waite House after he’d been forced to drop out of Dunwoody for lack of money. The school’s tuition and fees typically run $15,000 annually. That prompted a flurry of calls to the school from alumni and staff, according to Dave Jarzyna, a school spokesman. “Universally they said we need to do something for this guy,” Jarzyna said.

“We’re going to make sure that if he wants to come to Dunwoody, he’ll have the resources to do that,” Jarzyna said. Hernanedez, 20, could not be reached immediately for comment. “The ball’s in his court and we’re hoping to hear from him,” Jarzyna said.

and often the people that want it the most are those who can't pay for it. The plain truth is the schools are broke,
my niece is a high school teacher and she buys the supplies the kids use in the classroom.

12. Cowards despise true heroes.
Fuck Bu$h. He'd rather our young and poor be dying for his "noble" causes.

It's nice to see the community rally around that young man.

13. The only sad thing is that once he's in school again, the kids won't see him
as often.. But they probably are neighborhood kids.. I'm sure they will use him as a role model anyway
