Imus's Radio Replacement(s) Named - Oh, You're Gonna Love This
This is from a couple of days ago. It looks like the new hosts in Imus's radio slot will be none other than ex-football pro (and Rudy campaign contributor) Boomer Esiason, and "Jersey Guy" Craig Carton, beloved by anti-immigrant homophobes.

1. Completely predictable. They showed us. I'm surprised they didn't just get the head of the KKK.

7. Carton was a "610 A.M. All Sports Asshole" in Philly
He was to sports what Hannity is to politics, before he got fired after Flyers owner Ed Snyder sued him for falsely broadcasting that Eric Lindross got drunk and missed a scheduled hockey game.

2. there was a new story
today in the paper that said Don Imus would be back on the air on WFAN in january.

Right now all we are hearing is rumors, until we hear an official announcement, I am not going to get heated up about it.

4. Fulfilling the prediction from "A Face in the Crowd"
This movie (by wingnut tool Elia KAZAN) had Andy GRIFFITH as a sL-IMUS type sleezeball, whose career is busted by an on-air exposure of his cynicism and despicable character.

Lonesome Rhodes: Listen, I'm not through yet. You know what's gonna to happen to me?

Mel Miller: Suppose I tell you exactly what's gonna happen to you. You're gonna be back in television. Only it won't be quite the same as it was before. There'll be a reasonable cooling-off period and then somebody will say: "Why don't we try him again in a inexpensive format. People's memories aren't too long." And you know, in a way, he'll be right. Some of the people will forget, and some of them won't. Oh, you'll have a show. Maybe not the best hour or, you know, top 10. Maybe not even in the top 35. But you'll have a show. It just won't be quite the same as it was before. Then a couple of new fellas will come along. And pretty soon, a lot of your fans will be flocking around them. And then one day, somebody'll ask: "Whatever happened to, a, whatshisname? You know, the one who was so big. The number-one fella a couple of years ago. He was famous. How can we forget a name like that? Oh by the way, have you seen, a, Barry Mills? I think he's the greatest thing since Will Rogers."

(Mel turns and starts to leave. Then, he turns back towards Lonesome)

Mel Miller: Beanie!

(Beanie, who is manning the automatic appalause machine, instinctively pulls the switch, unleashing a massive abundance of cheers. The machanical jubilation continues as Mel joins Marcia in the waiting elevator, leaving Lonesome alone in the empty penthouse with his broken dreams)

3. I would like to know how much the IMUS debacle has cost...
in advertising dollars and revenues for MSNBC & WFAN.
The impact on MSNBC may not be as severe but it's still huge.
More often than not the Imus in the morning simulcast beat CNN's morning show and they clobbered anything FOX had on, like that insipid FOX & friends.

Now on WFAN IMUS was HUGE.

I'm not saying he was Stern, but he had an audience that was prized because of their demographic, and that audience was in the tens of millions.

Ok kill me now -
Say what you want about IMUS, but I miss that old bastard.

Yeah, he made some crucial errors while trying to be funny.
But, name me another show where you could hear a politician or an author or some other prominent public official get to talk for 20 minutes uninterrupted without having some snarky CNN or MSNBC Witt-Twit ask them something stupid?

How about major newspaper columnists (good or bad) Frank Rich or Dowd or Friedman or Krugman or Herbet for 10 or 15 minutes?

How often did you watch MSNBC at night and they would play a clip of something someone said on his show that morning?

We won't even discuss the music.
That was legendary stuff.
When was the last time you saw Mark Knophler & Emmy Lou Harris sit side by side and sing four cuts off their recent album?

Never.

This morning on MSNBC the topic was "Is Hillary to angry to be President?" and the inference was is she a "bitch?"

Nice.

I hope Boomer and Jersey asshole and Scarborough drive both networks into the ground ratings wise.

IMUS may have been a prick and a borderline racist, but more often than not, I learned something new watching his morning show.

Well, that's gone.

5. The music was the only good part of it
I couldn't stand the sound of Imus's stupid voice so I muted the TV until a singer came on. Later on I found that the MSNBC website listed the times when the singers would appear so I didn't have to waste any time listening to Imus and his fellow klansmen. I don't think his ratings here on the west coast were all that great. He was on from 3 AM to 6 and only idiots like me are up that early.

9. I miss Imus, and Charles and Chris too.
But not Bernard. I blame that day on Bernie.

I miss watching Imus in the mornings with my teenaged son. More often than not, the show would have us laughing at the start of our day. I remember one day he was all worked up about something, he started screaming over and over "You are not going to believe what I have for you today, PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE RODE! P.U.L.L.O.V.E.R. TO THESIDEOFTHERODE!!!!!" Just Hilarious.

The guy wasn't perfect, but he sure was interesting.
