Tony Snow to WH reporters: "Have we exhausted questions on Minnesota?"

http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2007/08/20070802-3.html

<snip>

MR. SNOW: Again, let me -- look, these are the kinds of questions that, first, invite finger-pointing. I don't want to engage in that. Secondly, what you're suggesting, I suppose, is to erect -- I don't even want to get into what it might be suggesting. It's important to figure out the safety of all structures, and people understand that and this is what state and local officials do. They do it all the time.

Okay, are we --

Q Is the First Lady --

MR. SNOW: The First Lady will be going tomorrow. Her office will have details about the trip.

Have we exhausted questions on Minnesota?

13. I would make a sarcastic remark about him, but it would be misperceived and spun.
Therefore it would be wholly out of place to even use "black comedy".

Still, if Tony gets off on being a jerk, it's his loss.

5. No, but Minnesota is pretty damned exhausted with you, Snowjob.
I've still got "Pawlenty" of questions about why a couple dozen of my fellow Minnesotans are at the bottom of a river right now.

God, I'm a wreck today. I chuckled at the beginning of your post and then wanted to start crying.I think the stress and lack of sleep is catching up with me. :-(

10. Ditto, I'm going home now
Edited on Thu Aug-02-07 04:01 PM by northernsoul
Got a brief out, made a quick court appearance. I've done enough legal skullduggery for one day. I gotta get home, work on a crossword puzzle, and get some much-needed sleep.

Hell, I'm so tired I broke my own moratorium on puns.

11. I'm going to ask you a serious question, onenote.
What is your point about poo pooing people about their reactions to this tragedy? Do you think everyone here speaks with one voice at DU?

Did you even consider that there are people who post here who live near the accident site or may have loved ones whose bodies haven't been recovered from the Mississippi yet? Do you have specific examples of specific Duers complaining about the media coverage who are now complaining about not enough coverage? If you can't, I suggest you put away your haute broad brush today and let us grieve. Sheesh, it hasn't been 24 hours yet.

17. I thought those who were poo-pooing this story were full of crap
Edited on Thu Aug-02-07 04:13 PM by onenote
I couldn't believe that anyone would suggest that, as was the case with a couple of DUers, that the bridge collapse story only rated a "blurb".

For example: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=125x167674#167684

You are right about the fact that its probably not the same DUers and my apologies for not making clear that I was trying to poke at those who suggested that this isn't the biggest news story of the day.

15. actually it's called accountability, Tony!
Not finger pointing.......although we probably shouldn't be surprised that he didn't know that. Considering that most republicans try to avoid accountability at all costs!

16. Can we at least impeach him?
 What a son of a bitch. It's because of his boss and this administration that our infrastructure is in ruins. All that money we sent overseas could've prevented this and he has the balls to say "Have we exhausted questions on Minnesota?"

18. That is just sickening. Every once in awhile, these people do
or say something that makes me look at them fresh, without the last six years as prologue-- and this is one of those things.

How sickening is that comment? People are dead, and if there's any blame to be assigned, it's to the Bush Administration and their syphoning of resources to their corporate crook pals and illegal occupation. They've ignored our own nation's infrastructure and people, for that matter, and pursued idiotic, ideological goals to the exclusion of all else.

And now this jackass comes on television and casually tosses blame at "local officials", and breathlessly asks to just 'move on' to something he's more interested in. He's completely unconcerned-- couldn't give a shit less. If he can score some political points with it, fine, but apart from that, *yawn*.

19. They never try to serve the people
they always serve somebody up to blame, somebody to be grilled as the sacrificial lamb of the day, yet they want endless chances
for poor, deceptive or incompetent behavior: ie Gonzales, Heckuva job Brownie, the list is endless. Couldn't they just say they
were doing all they can to help both with recovery and repair. Oh, wait, my bad memory, even though it's a federal bridge, it's
not in Saudi Arabia or Israel so they don't want involved. Charity is for your wealthy buds, only the buds.
