Victims of fake war based on fake WMDs laid to rest with - wait for it - FAKE TAPS
Et tu, Bush?

"They definitely want taps played," Martin said. "Almost all the request we get are buglers for taps to be played."

But the two honor guard members who can play the bugle are rarely free to volunteer. In fact, there is a national shortage of buglers, so they turn to a high-tech substitute.

"All I have to do is hit that button and it takes off," Martin said of his electronic bugle.

While to some, the electronic bugle is a tacky substitute, it trumps the alternative.

Now, this veteran in question was a veteran of World War II, but I can't help but think how many soldiers who have been killed in Iraq are getting the "electronic bugle" treatment.

1. Hell, they brought a CD player to my grandfather's funeral a couple months ago.
He was a WWII vet. The fake bugle would have been better.

4. With all the money they spend
It’s a crying shame how they treat our Vets. When we buried my dad at Ft. Snelling, in Minnesota, the place was so crowded that we had to wait in line for almost three hours in February! Then we got the tape of taps to boot. It was so freaking cold that I still blame my mother’s death 5 months later on that day. My mother tossed the card from the President in the trash she was so pissed.
I wrote to both Sens. Wellstone and Grams and Gov. Carlson to complain but all I got from Grams was some lame excuse about a shortage of buglers and too many WWll Vets dieing off. We never even heard from Wellstone. Gov. Carlson would only say that it wasn’t a state matter.

5. Couldn't they simply hire some high school or college muscians?
I don't play trumpet or bugles but it is all open fingered and the notes aren't that high. Any first chair trumpet in a decent high school marching band can play it. Shame on them for using a fake bugle.

6. With over 1800 funeral a day
I can see why there's a shortage of buglers playing taps.

It's sad that more people don't take up the bugle. I think the electronic bugle is preferable to a tape or CD.
