Large discrepancy between two impeachment polls
Edited on Wed Jul-11-07 02:05 PM by Poiuyt
Here are two polls, taken in the same time frame, yet with a very large difference in results. My guess is that the ARG poll is more accurate. I find it hard to believe that, with Bush's approval rating so low, most Americans are not thinking more strongly about impeachment.

American Research Group 7/5/07

Question:
Do you favor or oppose the US House of Representatives beginning impeachment proceedings against President George W. Bush?

45% - Favor, 46% - Oppose, 9% - Undecided

USA Today 7/6-8/07

As you may know, impeachment is the first step in the constitutional process for removing a president from office, in which possible crimes are investigated and charges are made. Do you think there is or is not justification for Congress to begin impeachment proceedings against President Bush at this time?

36% - Yes, 62% - No, 3% - No Opinion

Your thoughts?

4. I don't think so
36% and 45%? People here seem to think an overwhelming majority of Americans are demanding impeachment. This shows that clearly not to be the case.

7. How could we find Nixon's numbers before he bailed?
I did see a poll -- it was Zogby -- that said 1)most people want Junior OUT but 2) most people don't want him impeached. Iirc, that was about a month ago. What these polls tell me is that people are becoming desensitizezd to the "I" word. Or, that's one conclusion you could draw.

The Libby commutation was a mistake for Bush.

3. yes
that second question is worded horribly, and in fact, impeachment is NOT the beginning of an investigation. Stupidly worded.

8. Either these polls are measuring non-attitudes or #2 is too wordy
Now I'm curious what other polls say.

9. There have been very few polls done on impeachment
A lot of pollsters have refused to do the survey, even if they are paid. Harris at first refused to poll on impeachment, then did, but will not show the results.

lol.. I dunno. odd.

maybe different region was polled a little bit more than the other?

the fact remains around half of America is wanting B*sh IMPEACHED, that's pretty damn high. And the #'s higher for the boss, Dick.
