MSN was passing out packets of "seeds for change" at the Live Earth concert at Giants Stadium this past Saturday so I made sure to get a whole bunch of packets which must have numbered about twenty. Today I went out and talked to people and distributed every packet and asked them to plant those seeds for a better planet in fighting the climate crisis and where to go to sign the Live Earth pledge. I got a good response, with about half of the people telling me they watched Live Earth and thought it was a good start to the three year plan of The Aliance for Climate Protection to get this message out to inspire people to demand change and bring it about by their own actions. Even on my job we have now instituted a sustainable plan for saving energy and everyone also got a packet of seeds and a wrist band. So I have been busy today. ;-) And it will continue tomorrow, because it must. So hopefully I reached many more people today in spreading this message of hope, because I refuse to sit and think of this as doom and gloom because if I do nothing will be accomplished. The entire message behind Live Earth was not just to listen to the music and then go on our way. It was meant to begin a three year plan that does not just include Al Gore and The Alliance for Climate Protection. It includes ALL OF US and our children spreading the message and living it. This is also my way to tell the naysayers who believe this had no effect that they are wrong, because the more people who get this message the greater the chance of progress being made on all levels. As Al Gore has stated, we are not even close to where we need to be, so I see no other way to support our planet and him right now than to be a climate messenger to help us get there.
I also live in a state that has now just passed and signed one of the most comprehensive global warming bills in our country. I live in a town with a Mayor who has signed the Mayors' pledge to reduce Co2 emissions. And I firmly believe it is in part because of people including myself writing LTE and to them demanding that action be taken on this crisis before it is too late.
We do have the power and the seeds to make great change.
Live Earth was only the starting point.
It's now time to take it up a notch.
