AL GORE --->>> Times Like These - Deserve Action - Please Run - For President

Run, Al. Just freaking RUN!

Here's the thing, Al. It's not about you. Which I know you already know. But it's really not about you. So just run. Run because we need you to. Just run.

3. Love your photos!
Love them! Especially that last. Love any photo showning the Asshat-in-Chief revelling in all his glory.

15. Well it certainly isn't about your group doing anything but harrassing him
Edited on Sun Jul-08-07 02:14 PM by RestoreGore
Even on a day when you should be telling him you support his endeavors and what YOU are doing ( did you even sign the Live Earth pledge?) all you do is use them to get attention for your own website. I heard that draft people were told to leave the stadium yesterday by security because they were violating the rules by soliciting on private and state property. They couldn't even stop it for one day to respect him? How dare they try to turn this day for our planet into a political rally. So much for you respecting his wishes.

4. Honestly...
I don't think he should run. I think he could do so much more for the environment when he can focus on it as his primary issue. If he's president, which i have no doubt he would be if he ran, he'd have to devote most of his time to other issues. We have a great field of democratic candidates, some i like more than others, but i'm sure they would all do a significant amount for the environment, as they can realize (unlike the repubs) that al gore is giving good advice.

5. The only chance the planet has is if we have a president who makes it the primary issue.
Our field of candidates JUST DON'T GET IT. There is no other issue. THIS is the issue. Sign on or step aside.

7. I think it's insulting to imply this is the only issue.
There ARE other things going on, you know. And I think him having to divert his attention to those would damage to total attention he can devote to the climate now.

12. Well, according to the scientists we only have 10 years to turn global warming around
And if we don't, we'll have such environmental chaos that we'll face mass extinctions, a shift of the areas that can grow food (the entire MidWest is projected to become a dust bowl), changed seasonal patterns that cause the pollinating animals and insects to appear at the wrong times (causing even more crop failures), millions of climate refugees, resource wars over dwindling supplies of food and water... the climate may change so radically that the planet cannot support human life.

It is the most important issue facing us. If we don't turn it around, it won't matter what else we've left undone.

And solving the climate crisis will solve some other problems - - especially economic.

17. Global warming is connected to peak oil
peak oil is connected to national security, and the war on terror, Iraq etc

Peak oil in an oil driven economy is a bad thing re: jobs, taxes etc.

Mass transit & global warming, they go hand in hand.....

The way the corporatists are handling global warming and peak oil is the wrong way. The concept of energy wars could very well prevent the human race from ever getting out to the solar system.

I think that pretty much covers it. Global warming is the one issue that interconnects everything else. Economics, social policy & justice.

Solar, wind, Polywell fusion will generate electricity, while we reduce greenhouse emmisions. Thats one hell of a lot of decent paying jobs over the next 4o yrs.

I dont understand how anyone doesnt understand that..... unless they just haven't connected the dots yet...

13. agree slick
I think he can do more good from outside of government.

When you're president you get bounced from issue to issue. There are budget fights to get through, and hundreds of other issues that pop up to take you from your focus.

He can do more working on changing the people of the world rather than trying to move the governmnt.

Once the people have changed, politicians in both parties will follow them.

9. I'm begnning to believe that just maybe he is more powerful not running.
"i'm out of love with politics", isn't that what he said? Maybe we all should just sit down and think about that statement for just a moment or two. Where has running for President gotten anyone the last several decades. What do we have to show for President of the US?

I like Al just where he is.

10. Even when Ann Curry asked him during the concert
he would not say NO!

He has trained climate messengers all over the world to help w/the message. Oregon's SOS, Bill Bradbury was in the 1st 50 he taught at his farm. Bill lives the next town south of me and did a fabulous job w/his presentation.

We can all help, leaving Al time to be president. And being president, he can accomplish so much more!

14. Patience, grasshopper. When the aspens turn in the fall and the time grows ripe,
I'm sure we will find out just what President Gore will be planning to do.

From all I can intuit, he certainly seems to be considering the possibilities.

I do think if he decides to run, he will be far better served to wait until at least September to announce. We have already waited so long, two or three month more isn't a lot.

I hope he does run.
