Just watched the National School Board Association smack Spelling around.
She got real snippy when pushed on the problems with NCLB. Kept talking about "righteous goals." Would not admit that there were problems with this plan but it was always the school district's noncompliance with the act that was the problem, not that there were inadequate fund and that some of the testing rationale didn't make sense, or that it pushed kids out of the system before they could be served. It wasn't her fault or *'s fault. It was everyone else problem that they were failing.
3. It was a speech she gave at the National School Board Association
on 01/29/2007 about the Reauthorization of NCLB Act that was broadcasted this morning on CSPAN at a really early hour. They have changed their video archive at CSPAN and I cannot locate anything on the search engine there now since I keep getting error messages. It is worth seeing for the Q&A alone.
