If Iran is destabilized, what will happen?
The Bush Administration seeks to destabilize Iran, if they are successful in that goal, what will happen afterward?

Will the resistance to the theocracy really be able to take over?

Or, will Iran join Iraq, Afghanistan, Lebanon, and the Palestinian Territories in chaos and civil war?

1. I think the young people of Iran who are tired of the theocracy
will make an attempt to take control. But it will be hampered by a multitude of differing religious zealots pouring in from surrounding countries--like Iraq. My guess: chaos.

8. Yep. You'd think with our horrible track record of meddling
with other countries we'd effen learn something.

A river of blood will flow.

3. No, they'll all rally around the theocracy
and get nuttier and nuttier trying to keep the government that's kept them stable, if bored and miserable, for almost 30 years.

The best policy with Iran is HANDS OFF. They will moderate if left to their own devices, but it has to originate internally. There is tremendous pressure there to moderate the harsh Islamic laws. If we just stand back and watch it happen, the country will secularize.

4. Agreed. It's the "politics of fear" that radicalizes regimes.

That's what Cheney/Bush thrive on ... NOT any ability to facilitate improvements in the lives of ordinary people. Same for Iran's fundamentalist Ayatollah's - who're every bit as right-wing as Cheney/Bush.

5. Iran is not unstable. They give less focus to their nut (A-mad-in-the-head) than we do (bush)
Iran will be just fine if we stay out.

Our CIA ops will not unsettle their government. The only thing that will bother them is if we nuke them. Then they will focus all of their energy of destroying us. They are much bigger than Iraq and it will hurt us a lot more than the Iraq war.

an Iran war will be far worse than the Iraq war.

9. BushCo is looking for an excuse to kill them all.
Under the idiotic assumption that, if they feel like it, they can.
