Obama Urges Quick Vote to Spur Jobs
By SHERYL STOLBERG

http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/06/11/obama-urges-quick-vote-to-spur-jobs/

President Obama walked to the Rose Garden after meeting with small business owners in the Oval Office on Friday

snips:
Mr. Obama vowed to make jobs his “number one focus in 2010’’ back in February, when he first proposed the $30 billion Small Business Lending Fund. It has been approved by the House Committee on Financial Services, and the full House is planning to take up the measure next week. Mr. Obama raised the issue with a bipartisan group of Congressional leaders when he met with them Thursday at the White House.

--------------------------------

The Small Business Lending Fund, as proposed by Mr. Obama, would steer money toward small and medium-sized banks, those with assets under $10 billion. Mr. Obama is also calling for lawmakers to approve legislation that would eliminate capital gains taxes for investments in small businesses, provide tax relief to small startups and create a new state small business initiative to make up for cutbacks in lending by states that have had to scale back because of budget shortfalls.

-------------

GOBAMA! Proud of you, man! (Yes, I know Obama doesn't read DU, but what the hey!)

1. Thank you, QA~ Just the right
kind of good news one would want while home on a quick break from work. :bounce:

House Committee approved anyway..who knows what evil lurks in the minds of obstructionists bc it would be great for the country but it would also look too good on the President's resume.

2. Cheers, Cha. :)
The infuriating thing is that as the midterms grow closer, Republicans will fight tooth-and-nail to delay, destroy and stall ANY further job creation (because they can't have that, it would make Obama look too good) while at the same time they will be crowing to voters that they're the only ones who care about Main Street. Why they can still get away with this stuff is what worries me.

4. I think we're doing damn good just to stay
sane in a political environment such as the USA's(it's only our country we're talking about and incidently our Lonely Planet).

And, that goes extra for the President.:patriot::patriot::patriot:
