4. I will be voting for John, Regardless.
He has earned my vote... None of the others have.

It isn't over.

The battle has been going on for generations... and this is not the end of it.

5. Their bullet points during his speech left out a KEY element of this...
...the campaign had to fold BECAUSE JOHN EDWARDS'S CAMPAIGN WAS IGNORED, MARGINALIZED, AND BLACKED OUT BY THE CORPORATE-OWNED MEDIA.

Bastards!

I hope to GOD there is instant karma on them.

THIS was my damned birthday. And THIS was a kick in my stomach on today of all days.

Angry doesn't BEGIN to describe how I feel. Even LIVID doesn't cover it.

Am I "too angry"?

HELL NO!

7. That is exactly the case!
The corporate-owned media has pushed the agenda of the elite, and fucked our chance to have a progressive. I still bump into people who say "Who's Edwards?"

My 46th birthday is in a few days (hello fellow Aquarian :hi: ) and all I wanted for my birthday was to vote next Tuesday. Now I don't get to have my birthday present!

I wish you 'Happy Birthday', even though
I know today is a very sad day for our country.

The best candidate just stepped down.

12. odd
What could have happened between midnight and this morning? Even though he's not saying, something happened. He is not himself giving this speech. He obviously didn't write it, and this is the first time I have seen him read a speech. He stumbled through it and he just doesn't do that. Whatever it was, he was very shaken. He's a very brave person and whatever it was, it was serious.

14. Okay, tinfoil hat on, call me crazy.
Sometimes I think that those in power will pull a person aside and show them a horrible scenario that they guarantee will be pulled off should that person continue in their endeavor. A scenario that has nothing to do with the person directly, but would affect maybe tens of millions of people and would take merely the flick of a switch. Remember that banker guy (can't remember his name) who said they would do what they had to to stop Edwards?

I know it's a "crazy conspiracy". I'm probably just nuts to think like this. But with all that power and fortune being threatened by someone like Edwards, you never know just what might be pulled to shut such a one up.

when it says John Edwards is dropping out. It is he is suspending, therefore, he can still gather quietly delegates.

18. I just don't get it!
Did they force him out? I heard he bought ads in 10 states for Super Tuesday, and I got an email asking for money just yesterday... so I don't get it. He suspended his campaign... does that mean he can start it up again? I voted early in Tennessee for him and I know others who have. Now who will we vote for in November... Ron Paul... just for the hell of it?

20. What do we do now?
Collectively, what is the best thing for Edwards supporters to do now? Do we keep voting for Edwards (which I would love to do), but I don't dare risk voting incorrectly and having this thing go to Clinton. I just can't do it...

Have we learned nothing from Rove yet?

Let's not forget the legal minds surrounding this campaign.

24. I have no choice but to vote Edwards Tuesday
beacuse there IS no other that I believe in or respect enough.

and if he can still get delagates, why don't we quietly give them to him!?

...conspiracy theories went through my mind too...that or something very wrong with Elizabeth.... I am so sad! I haven't even got my sticker and sign in the mail yet! I will still post them proudly.
He kept saying that he heard those who said "don't forget us " then WHY? john WHY?
so sad, I will write him in in November if I have to...

27. Me too
Let's see how many delegates he can still get.

I thought it was weird that Edwards didn't wait
just 1 more week until after Super Tuesday to bow out.

I was thinkin' he might get 15-20% of states like NY, CA,
in addition to maybe 10+% in a bunch of other smaller states
and go to the Convention with say, 250-300 delegates.

That would have to mean something, right?
A bit of "clout"?
But maybe the system doesn't even work that way anymore.
That would be almost democratic.

Hey,
in November, I'll go with Obama OR Clinton over
ANY frikkin' Republican they can dredge up, bar none.

But right now (i.e.next week in the CA Primary),
in spite of letting me down (I feel),
I'll give my vote to Edwards.

He came the closest to voicing my own fears, hopes
and priorites in 2008.

I could live with an OBAMA/EDWARDS ticket, by the way.

Shocking Thought:

Having an anti-corporate "Librul" like Edwards in the VP spot
might be "assassination insurance" for Prez Obama.

I apologize for offending with that thought.

I think I even offended myself!

26. "He had my vote."

I was afraid this moment was coming for a while now. The more I witnessed Edwards ignored by the media from the beginning, while they shoved Hillary and Obama at us at the expense of some other fine candidates, including my main man, Edwards. I was hoping the primaries would reveal a groundswell of Edwards support. I thought he would stay in till at least Tuesday, but alas that was not to be.
I had always thought an Edwards/Obama ticket would be a sure fire winner. Now my hopes are on a Obama/Edwards ticket.
And yes, I now support Obama, his speech at the 2004 Democratic convention won me over back then, but I felt Edwards was the more progressive candidate.
All the Democratic candidates have been great in my opinion, it's nice that we've had this special group.
I think we stand at the doorstep of major progressive change, America's ready, we've seen how much the trickle down economic plan works for those of us who work for a living.
I drew a cartoon about progressive change for America, here's the link to it;

28. shit . . . I've been away from the tv and the net all day . . .
and I log on only to find that the last real candidate has dropped out . . . or, more accurately, that the powers that be (the corporate media) ignored him to the point where he felt he had to drop out . . .

I frankly don't know what I'm going to do now . . . I can't vote for Kucinich in the primary, I can't vote for Edwards either . . . and I'm damned if I'm going to vote for either of the Bobbsie Twins . . .

any chance we had of turning this country around come January has now officially and finally been flushed . . . Clinton won't end the war, and neither will Obama . . . neither will champion true universal healthcare . . . neither will mount a real fight against poverty . . . and most important of all, neither will demand that corporations be strictly regulated, and that their ownership of our government cease . . . just two more corporate hacks to choose from, and I frankly don't give a shit which one wins . . . either one will lose to McCain in November . . .

fuck it all . . .

33. Please don't throw away your vote
Please vote, any Democratic candidate will be better than any Republican candidates. To not vote is to give a vote to the Republicans, and you will be doing their bidding by not voting. I like Obama, he's not my first choice, but he's better than what the other side has to offer.
Don't throw away your vote, please, for the future of our country.

30. best to John
After being really opposed to him after he went negative early on, I was moving back in his direction. I have always appreciated his speaking out for the poor. And I have recently educated myself about the appalling influence of corporate america on politics. I do like certain things about both Clinton and Obama, but I think I favor the latter. Obama (joined by Brownback) fought for serious legislation to address the genocide in Darfur. I think with him as President, the US would do more for nations that are not strategically important. I also found refreshing his suggestion that he would talk to leaders in Iran in the first months of his presidency.
