Due to popular demand, I have made another pet memorial video. These are the second group of furkids that did not make it into the first video.

Rest in Peace, dear ones...

I might do this on a quarterly basis if there is enough interest.

9. Ditto, as the pain of losing a loved one even if a pet is difficult.
It reminds me of the short duration that they are with us and the love that they gave and were given. I didn't want to get another cat because of how I had difficulty in handling the loss of the previous one, but this one chose me by crying at my rear window one cold and rainy Easter. I couldn't say no. Been here ever since and each time the bonds are stronger than the previous ones so when this one goes it will be even more difficult to handle.

29. I completely understand
but I too, keep getting adopted by furry ones in need! My kidz all have long and wonderful lives. I love to spoil them. We just lost our Storm, a 14 year old beautiful boy who went through the Northridge Earthquake among other things with me. These are our life companions and the price of protecting my heart from grief would also mean depriving myself of the incredible love my little ones give me...it's not worth doing without the love! I will just suffer through the grief until it gets better but that love will live in my heart for the rest of my days. Storm used to grin at me and that won't leave me!

Here is something that has helped me through the loss of each loved pet through the years...no guarantee it won't make you cry but for me, it's happy tears.

60. I understand where you're coming from.
I've lost far too many of my pets, as well, and it sure doesn't get any easier. I've lost two beloved dogs, Meneken and Sara, in the past two years and never think that I can go through that again. I am still mourning both of them...;(

But my guys also come from rescue and they find me. Though I lose them sooner, I wouldn't change a thing, except for keeping them longer, since they have brought so much to my life. The oldest one I adopted was my perfect Barney, who was 10 or 11 when he found me and I had him for eight wonderful years. You never know and I count my little guys as my family and my blessings...:loveya:

13. Someone sent me this when
I lost my cat Poontang. It helped me with the grief associated with her loss and the the two that followed, Queenfish and Sputnik. All of my pets provide(d) me with unconditional love and loyalty. I still think of them for the way they made/make me a better human being.

On January 4, 1993, the cat in this book and the books that preceded it was put to sleep in Kerrville, Texas, by DR. W.H. Hoegemeyer and myself. Cuddles was fourteen years old, a respectable age. She was as close to me as any human being I have ever known.
Cuddles and I spent many years together, both in New York, where I found her as a little kitten on the street in Chinatown, and later on the ranch in Texas. She was always with me, on the table, on the bed, by the fireplace, beside the typewriter, on top of my suitcase when I returned from a trip.
I dug Cuddles' grave with a silver spade, in the little garden by the stream behind the old green trailer where both of us lived in the summertime. Her burial shroud was my old New York sweatshirt and in the grave with her is a can of tuna and a cigar.
A few days ago I received a sympathy note from Bill Hoegemeyer, the veterinarian. It opened with a verse by Irving Townsend: "We who choose to surround ourselves with lives even more temporary than our own live within a fragile circle…"
Now as I write this, on a gray winter day by the fireside, I can almost feel her light tread moving from my head and my heart down through my fingertips to the keys of the typewriter. People may surprise you with unexpected kindness. Dogs have a depth of loyalty that we often seem unworthy of. But the love of a cat is a blessing, a privilege in this world.
They say when you die and go to heaven all the dogs and cats you ever owned in your life come running to meet you.
Until that day, rest in peace Cuddles.

28. Thanks.
My departed, green-feathered friend fell ill the week that my dad died. Talk about a double-whammy! It was 3 or 4 months before I could say his name without crying. If a bird can be a big ol' "pussycat" - he was it! Not a mean bone in Biggie's body. If there's a reason for an afterlife...

32. Ideally...
...the larger Amazon Parrots (he was a species known as a Mealy Amazon) can live to be 80 or more years old. Since we got him when he was mature, there was no way of knowing how old he was at the time. We had him for the last 17 years of his life and it was cancer that got him in the end. I'm pretty sure he was no where near even 50 years old although there's really no way to tell a bird's age other than knowing when it hatched.
We have other birds in our household. One of them we've had for 23 years now - and he's a sweetie too. But ol' Biggs was a gentle giant that was a pleasure to know.

33. He did look old
and I in no way meant to imply anything. I am sure he got the best of care. The sweet kitty you see in my picture was 14 which is a good old age for a cat and cancer got him as well. I felt cheated though because I have been lucky to keep my catties up to 17 years. We're trying for 20 with our youngsters! I wish I could have a bird but I would never do that to a bird in a household full of cats!

46. Yeah
outliving their owners has happened many times. We have two birds we hatched in our home about 16 years ago. Their our "kids" and we worry what their fate might be if we pass on before they do (a real possibility). They're very set in their ways and finicky about what they eat. They'd have a tough time adjusting if they changed hands. With cats and dogs, you kinda expect that they won't go much past 15 years, but birds - kept in good health - can do 40 to 80 years. There's one case of a parrot that was something like 112 before he passed on!

48. I have 3 furkidz, which I love dearly...
I come to the point that as long as they pass due to old age, I am ok with that. It's a fact of life and there is nothing we can do about it. If one was to suffer and their life was cut short due to an accident or illness then I would be far more saddened by their early departure. I feel the same way about people, as long as they do not suffer and pass due to old age, I am ok with it. It is when they are robbed of life due to illness or accident.

about my oldest kitty. He is very special, a mellow brown tabby. Never given us a lick of trouble. He is getting thin now, and appears to be somewhat blind and going deaf, but is in no pain, seems happy. We are going to let him live out the rest of his life eating organic wet food and sleeping where ever he wants these days.
