This a presentation on oil production from a minister's perspective who claims to have sat in on the highest level board room meetings.

His insights on the industry are interesting, to say the least.

Arguments about increased drilling in Alaska, peak oil, pollution, warming, etc, only divert from the points of his presentation. (I don't support further development and destruction in the area, I just found this interesting and wanted to share it with DU)

Watch all eight parts before judging the presenter as someone just selling a book, religeous nut, conservative idiot, etc.

He may be all of the above, but his presentation, as a whole, is still very interesting. (and no, I have no intention of buying the book, he sort of gave it all away here)

Posting the remaining links in order, the interesting stuff never seems to come up that way on youtube.

1. Yes, when thinking about why we are
such a wealthy country, I often can only explain it with the power of the US dollar.

the end all of knowledge here on the subject, in fact I am surprised the real brainiacs of economics haven't chimed in already. This is third rail stuff.

If you look at the world events as a whole, those who hold wealth and commodities and keep them off the market control the price of goods on the market as long as they are not undercut by another supplier. They can play that game only as long as the advantage is in their favor.

The US was reluctantly drawn into WWII (yeh, right) and emerged as the victor. We wrote our own rules and the world lived by them for a while, that time is at an end and the rest of the world is about ready to get some pay back, so to speak.

A friend of mine once told me a joke that seems to sum it all up.

A young Navy man was talking to his buddy one day and told him that after two weeks on board the ship he didn't think he would make the next three months afloat without a some companionship, his buddy told him to go to the aft deck at midnight, there he would find a barrel with a hole in it, and he would know what to do.

He found said barrel and proceeded to find the relief he was in need of, later that night he told his friend he had changed his mind, he could tough out the cruise as long as he could visit that barrel every night for a few minutes.

His buddy said "Sorry, but Thursday is your night in the barrel."
