I think if we want our government to represent the people, a series of local revolutions needs to take place.

Democracy is alive and well. Just not in the corporate states of america.

I'm not even sure of that. The perception of Democracy and Freedom depends a lot upon the United States. If the U.S. falls, I think it will be a matter of time before all civilized countries are taken over.

5. I disagree. Democracy is alive and well in many other countries.

And you seem to think that democracy isn't already dead in the USA. It fell under the dim son and the new MAN ain't doin much different. Democracy is dead hear in all but name.

But democracy is still flourishing in countries that, other than armed invasion, will stand. The world craves freedom and respects democracy. They just don't look here for leadership anymore because we aren't showing any.

The re pugs WON the last election FOR whatever reason you want to tell your self they DID win ! That being said they are doing what they were sent there to do I don't agree with it but I did vote so i CAN express my opinion.What you young people need to do is get your heads out of your cell phones and PAY ATTENTION ! that you may sit on the right. I hope that is not true for if it is you are on the wrong forum.

The rethugs won the House of Representatives in 2010 but the Democrats still control the Executive Branch and the Senate. It was not a "total" victory for the rethugs.

It is nonsense to say that "...I did vote so i CAN express my opinion", like your opinion matters more than others on this board. Everyone one this board has the right to express their opinions as long as they don't violate the rules so please get off your high horse.

I would also venture to say most, if not all members on this board vote on a regular basis and are better informed when it comes to political issues than the average American on the street, especially when it comes to progressive and liberal values and ideas. Please also note that not everyone on this board is young. There are many of us who are a bit long in the tooth.

And welcome to DU. On edit I see you have been a member since 2008 so the welcome thing was really not necessary.
