1. oh how lame! the studio crew on camera? really? REALLY?
Edited on Fri Jul-01-11 07:24 AM by SemperEadem
this isn't legitimate news--this is an entertainment program.

In legitimate news, the crews are never seen on camera. How weak.

and that would have been the audio engineer running the audio. The executive producer
doesn't run audio for the show. The EP is usually in his office in the newsroom watching it with his feet up on the desk with
a kiss up or two in there with him. So not only is the apology disingenuous, the excuse
is laughable to anyone who knows how these organizations are staffed.

2. ok i don't know if this observation matters much,
Edited on Fri Jul-01-11 08:01 AM by Volaris
but I've been thinking about this and heres what I've got.....

America's corporations don't possess freedom of speech in the Public Square, because they are not, if fact, actual Persons. Everyday that those same Corporations self-censor what they say on the air, they PROVE not only that they agree with the above argument, but they prove that argument FOR us. To choose (conscientiously) NOT to censor that content in replay, knowing full-well that he may be forced to pay a fine for breaking the law, did Keith just engage in a great, big, fuck YOU act of Civil Disobedience? ('cause that would be way cool if that is the consensus, but does it set a dangerous precedent in that, to prove that they are in fact, actual Legal Persons, all the Corporations have to do is start NOT censoring what they put on the air?)

Thoughts?

And as an aside, I think I like it when the Pres. acts like a "dick" to the GOP idiots. And if 8 years of having Jr. in Office proved ANYTHING to me, its that the President of the United States DOES INDEED possess the unilateral power to go in front of a television camera and make a complete ass of Himself pretty much whenever he damn-well feels like it. (Not that I think President Obama did any such thing the other day.)

3. I tend to agree with Halperin
His book, "Game Change" was very pro-Obama. But it is very frustrating to see the Kumbaya games Obama seems to play with the Republicans who are out to ruin him( and the country!) anyway they can.

5. Good post. I agree. It's almost like Obama has an agenda....
Having said that, if this Mark Halperin comment is somehow construed as "news", I think maybe I'll pass on trying to get Charter to starting carrying Current. The horror of what is going on right now and then to see news stories about someone called someone a "dick"...I mean, sweet jesus. What is the matter with us? Why don't we talk about something important...say, legalizing marijuana? You know, something really important. Or maybe what Kim Kardasian said yesterday about Paris Hilton.

4. He meant to say this. Why apologize so quickly? We all know he meant to say it.

6. Are you kidding?
Really fun to watch Keith gloating over someone else getting taken to the woodshed at MSNBC (not.) I've also read both books referenced by his guest from Salon, and couldn't disagree with him more about them. Keith is really scraping the bottom of the barrel for guests since he can't get any of his old MSNBC gang on his show. Also, the guy handling the sound for his show sounds like he was trained by the same person who was handling the 7 second delay button on Morning Joe.
