34. Some bullies are just sadistic and pick on everyone They think they can beat
This new round of repubs will do exactly as they are told by their corporate lobbyists who will also write their bills for them. It's why Tea Party people never talk about outsourcing, regulating bankers or wall street and deny global climate change but claim to be grass roots trying to improve the lot of the common man. Hypocrisy has the smell of tea

The Second Coming William Butler Yeats

TURNING and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.

Surely some revelation is at hand;
Surely the Second Coming is at hand.
The Second Coming! Hardly are those words out
When a vast image out of Spiritus Mundi
Troubles my sight: somewhere in sands of the desert
A shape with lion body and the head of a man,
A gaze blank and pitiless as the sun,
Is moving its slow thighs, while all about it
Reel shadows of the indignant desert birds.
The darkness drops again; but now I know
That twenty centuries of stony sleep
Were vexed to nightmare by a rocking cradle,
And what rough beast, its hour come round at last,
Slouches towards Bethlehem to be born?

and was in a hard red area to begin with. He's right though..liberals just didn't show up and indy's just gave up and voted the other side. You can't spend gazillions on Wall Street and to the banksters and give the finger to the ones they hurt irrevocably. Homes, jobs? Are you kidding me Obama? You hurt the people that voted for you as much as the other side did by forcing thru health care. If you don't have a job or place to live you can't pay for any kind of coverage. Independents saw this and said hell if I can't get help at least I can stop the waste going to bailouts.
(that's their thinking anyway) Half of the blue dog dems got axed. That tells you right there. Centrism leaning right DOES NOT WORK for progressives.

Btw..I heard on Hartmann today that Obama has 2 Wal-Mart execs on Air Force 1 along with a lot of other businessmen.
I'm done with Obama unless he shows something in the next year

oops..sorry..hit wrong tab..was meant for the original post.

5. A lot of dems.....
got in (IMO) because of the hate the country had for Bush,
Unfortunately Fox news and rush limbaugh did their best to
fuck up everything Obama is trying to do.
Some of my Rep friends voted for Obama because of Bush,
But they still pay homage to fox and rush.

6. Grayson is one of the really great men in DC.
I made a contribution even tho I'm in MN. Many of the younger people where I work did not vote because they felt too ignorant on local candidates. Some don't have a PC at home to get information or a sample ballot. Some felt that Republicans run everything anyway so why bother, and some voted independent like they think that's the neutral position. Dems are not allowed to talk politics openly at work, however, Repugs can now resume the bullying and snarkiness of the bush years.

7. Grayson is so right.
If you keep doing the same thing over and over again and expect a different result, you're crazy.

That's a paraphrase of Albert Einstein.

I hope Grayson finds a place in American life where he can continue speaking out and doing good.

10. Where the Hell was Obama
Grayson fought hard to help Obama and how much effort did Obama exert to return that favor.

I am so sorry Grayson lost. Hopefully the Dims wake up by 2012, if they do and they show they are willing to fight the good fight, Grayson will run again.

27. I've spent so time watching the ads run by Grayson and Webster
for this race and I can see why he lost. Webster had the support of the local station WESH 2 nbc and Webster ran a warm and fuzzy campaign to the locals who obviously needed to be comforted. After watching those ads and watching the campaign against Grayson I would have felt a leaning to Webster. If you get a chance see what Grayson was up against.

and somehow, amazingly come to the conclusion that Grayson was not indicting Obama and Reid and the Democratic strategy but instead was blaming the disillusioned Dem voters.

I'm furious with those fucking appeasers in the Democratic Congressional caucus. It's because of their slap-dog attitude toward the Repukes, we've lost an incredibly strong, smart, outspoken, REAL Democrat in the House.

Unfuckingbelievable.

26. I appreciate you, Rep. Grayson, but here is a clue for *you*, also...
You say...

"What Democrats want is someone who accomplishes good things for constituents."

Then you list these things:

"progress on employment free choice act"
"progress on immigration"
"progress on civil rights"
"progress on women's rights"

What I have to ask you, Rep. Grayson, are NONE of your constituents poor?

While I have cheered your words for the last year and a half, I have finally wearied of you never mentioning poverty..... only the middleclass.

So, I ask you again.... are NONE of your constituents poor?

Did you not need also the votes of poor people?

Do you NOT understand that many "progressives" listen to your words and take a cue from you what is important? When you consistently leave out poverty, so do your followers.

SHAME.

28. Why we lost
Edited on Fri Nov-05-10 05:53 PM by AlbertCat
Basically, it only matters to most Americans when it effects them directly and personally.

People made $$$$ under Clinton and he was re-elected. Then Gore won too... but the Supremes remedied that! Bush came in with a huge surplus. People did well! 9-11 and 2 wars didn't even kill Bush because at home we were still pretending we weren't at war and we were invincible. But near the end of Bush's second term, the fantasy couldn't hold and the bottom fell out....right at the end. NOW it is affecting people at home (though we're still pretending at home we are not at war). Obama comes in just as the average person is feeling the pinch.... the pinch enabled by Bush. So the Repugs blame nice guy Obama for it all and it (finally) sinks in to the average guy because he's either not working, or is working for less... and it's "all Obama's fault". The Dems are in charge, but cower whenever the Repugs shout. Now that things have fallen apart for the common man in the street, they've brought in the ones who promise to fix it all. After all, it wasn't this way during Bush's term, right?

But here's the rub.... now that the average guy is feeling the pinch, the Repugs MUST deliver or we're screwed even more! You know as well as I the Repugs can't. But they can STILL blame it on the Prez.

I predict we lose the White House too in 2012. and end up with an all Repug gov again. But I don't think the bubble can be blown up again. America will have to hit rock bottom, like in the 30's, before they "get it" and vote Dem.

The wild card here is the Teabaggers. Personally I think they will hasten the march toward the bottom because they don't think but exist on childish fairy tales (like religion) and this may work in the Dems' favor.

But we're still gonna have to hit rock bottom before the average, unthinking, selfish American gets even a small clue.

The 1st thing Obama should do, since he's doomed already, is start acting like we are at war and in a DEPRESSION! Rationing, lots of pics of the troops coming home (in boxes) and lots of talk of war and bread lines. Of course, now you have to get the MSM to tell folks about these things. Good luck with that!

38. Here's what I wish someone would say: People want strong leaders
even if they don't necessarily agree with them 100% of the time, even above other virtues like intelligence, they want strong leaders.

And instead of trying to convince us how much better everything is now because of the laws he passed, Obama should've campaigned for the Dems on plans for the future to improve the economy and create jobs. Even though their plan for doing so was completely ridiculous (cutting taxes, wrong again, Bob) they at least claimed to have a plan.

And how the hell did we let the Republicans pin the bailout on the Democrats? Maybe the Obama admin, instead of leaving the bailouts as they were under Bush, a big handout with no accountability, should have actually restructured them, made them transparent, made sure they went toward job creation, and turned them into something positive. You want to push the bailouts on us, fine, we'll take them, but we'll turn it into something good. But no, they didn't do that, of course.

K&R
