The day that Lennon was shot and killed was one of those days that one could never forget, much like the day that President Kennedy was assassinated, which was a big word for a seven year old kid to comprehend.
It was seemingly just another cold day in December that I was going into the building where I worked and noticed on the news stand the daily newspaper. The headline read something like "John Lennon Killed".
Shocked and stunned I went into the office and I said something to an older man that I worked with about John Lennon being killed and he said, "Oh him ...". End of story for that day, or so it seemed.
As for that night, drinks were in heavy demand as Lennon recordings wailed into the night with songs like "Mother" and "I'm Losing You" almost melting the paint off the walls. That night seemed to go on forever.
Lennon's world was snapped shut that cold day in December, and had he lived; he'd be 70 years old now. We have no way of knowing what else John Lennon might have contributed to our world. There were plenty of people around like that man in the office that I worked with. Plenty yes. Too many yes.
May you RIP John Lennon. The world misses you and so do I.
:kick: & recommend.
