Lead Conspiracy theorist Glenn Beck (in his delusional mind thinks he) exposes the anti-American message in classic songs from The Beatles, Woody Guthrie and Bruce Springsteen.

My message for Glenn Beck: Just STFU and go away, you are an a$$hole!

Edited to add: Someone needs to do an intervention on Beck and get him a mental evaluation ASAP!

4. The Beatles music IS part of OUR AMERICAN CULTURE
The Beatles music is part of OUR American culture...
Sure they were British but America embraced them as one of our own.
And the amount of time that they have spent in the USA does count ;)

48. Yeah, why let facts and common sense get in the way of narrative...
Edited on Sat Mar-13-10 01:25 PM by liberation
... the Beatles were a world wide phenomenon from Britain. How they can be construed as "patriotic American" is beyond me. Last time I checked "international/worldwide" is the antithesis of "provincial/patriotic." I think they wrote more songs about the former USSR than they did about the USA ;-)

That being said, Beck is simply nuts. He is not only crazy, he is a dangerous type of crazy. And that is giving him the benefit of the doubt, because there is also the possibility he knows what he says is false and ridiculous... which would put him in a very special category of evil soulless bastard.

6. Thanks for rec'ing
The bad thing about the rec option is that most people don't rec negative videos,
but I think it is GOOD to rec the videos that 'everyone should see'.
The rec feature I think is confusing to a bunch of people cause.
I usually will rec a video when it is one that screams out 'WATCH THIS' ;)
A REC, in my opinion doesn't mean 'I agree', it just means 'ya gotta see it'

10. OK...When does "Puff the Magic Dragon" get vilified by Beck?
I recall years ago when that PP&M song was attacked, and one could look at the National Anthem and find fault as well; the first stanzas are actually questions as to whether we could stand.

How come Beck didn't put out "Taxman" by the Beatles?. That's closer to his point...:D

Beck's insanity is rubbing off on a part of the masses...and that, as always, creates problems.

Who do you think is more BELOVED in this country?
Who is truly The Hardest Working Man in Show Biz.... (at least in this contest)?

Anyone who knows Bruce (and the numbers are LEGION)... has been a fan since the 70's.... knows the lyrics, understands the lyrics, supports the lyrics, supports the causes....

Beck long ago Jumped. The. Shark.

His 15 minutes are way way up.
If he's the front of this "movement" it's a very sad, pathetic, ignorant picture.

15. Glenn Beck is an idiot....
He is one of those that thinks America is perfect the way it is. He refuses to recognize
that times have been hard and that people have had to deal with it. Part of what makes this a
great country is that we have suffered and bounced back. Artists like Springsteen and Dylan
write songs based on real life, that is why we like their songs.

Don't worry Glenn. . .the men in white coats with butterfly nets are coming soon.

Analyze these lyrics, psycho!

I get weird
Every time I see you, you know
I get weird
Gonna find a place to bite you
I got weird
When I found out you don't like me
I got weird
'Cause you know that you excite me

Sitting in my little room
Gonna find something obscene to do
Pull the wings off butterflies
Salt some snails and watch them
Bubble, bubble, bubble, bubble
Bubble, bubble, boil and bubble

I get weird
Every time I call you, you know
I get weird
Gonna go play with my chainsaw
I got weird
'Cause you laughed at my wolf whistle
I got weird
Gonna go and get my water pistol

Sitting in my little room
Gonna find something obscene to do
Pull the wings off butterflies
Salt some snails and watch them
Bubble, bubble, bubble, bubble
Bubble, bubble, boil and bubble (ha ha ha ho ho...)

I get weird
I get weird
I get weird
I get weird
I get weird
I get weird
I get weird
I get weird
I get weird
Come here, little girl
I get weird...

He also used to smoke marijuana with black people so that must have made him a nazi and a communist. Not to mention he probably hated tea parties.

But I'm confused, Reagan praise "Born in the USA"--and Reagan new everything.

He rails about it every night. It's his new pet conspiracy theory. Otherwise, why would he be bringing it up so disdainfully in this clip? Maybe you should watch his show a bit more closely... ;)

I finally saw that movie, A Face In the Crowd, from 1957. Now I know what Keith Olbermann means when he uses that term. Seems like Beck to a T. How a thug gets promoted as a seemingly populist figure, but has corporate interests at heart all the way.

27. Not Just A Crock, But Settings For A Dinner Party!
I don't listen to Faux Noise, so I'm spared the waste of time, but Beck's commentaries are crocks of s**t.

To begin with, the Beatles aren't American. And Revolution is really anything BUT revolutionary. I'm old enough to remember reading 1960s and 1970s comments about Revolution as being as middle-of-the-road and wishy-washy as Hubert Humphrey was considered to be in those days.

I admit that I enjoyed learning the Woody Guthrie's lyrics can still make contemporary right wing-nuts yap, snap and twitch in just the same way that their grand-pappies used to do when Guthrie's lyrics first went to press. Now THAT is a good song that still carries some weight.

I don't believe that Guthrie was ever a communist, and I believe that the history record shows it. But I think even a lot of moderate-conservatives these days would (grudgingly) agree with Guthrie that while they'd never been communists, they, too, have been in the red every day of their lives.

Regarding Born in the USA: is Beck going to try and scam us that judges and police chiefs DIDN'T encourage young men in trouble to go enlist in the military to get them off the streets and from being public troublemakers?! If so, that's some pretty large and highly-visible masonry in Faux Noise's Tower of Babel-ing lies.

:dem:

:patriot:

As for Beck: If you're carrying money for minds that hate / All I can tell you, buddy, is that you'll have to wait

 :tinfoilhat:

41. Revolution as being as middle-of-the-road and wishy-washy
I remember too, and only my parents were worried about the song, because they never got past the title. No one who actually listened to the lyrics could come away with anything other than a "be cool, calm down, look to yourself 1st" message. I mean "don't ya know it's gonna be.... alright." It's kinda anti-revolutionary. Peace!

And did he listen to the single or the very mellow version on the "White Album"?

Obviously, like my parents, he didn't get past the title.

But we all know Beck doesn't know what he's talking about. And he (like Rush) really doesn't care either.

I also find it hard to believe that anyone could be so ignorant/delusional/malicious/loony/stupid.

If he didn't have the platform to reach millions he would be a harmless kook hollering and gesticulating on the street corner as people passed by. But the fact he incites fear and foments hatred in millions of feeble minded people makes him dangerous.

What he is doing borders on being criminal, and is certainly morally reprehensible.

What concerns me is the uncritical thinking members of his audience that truly believe he is some kind of visionary.
