Less than thirty seconds of speech - Obama unites Demcorats against the Republicans, as "the Republcians do as they are told."

Then the Dems at this speech are admonished to "finish the job"

In other words, go forth yee fathful Dems and accept the few crumbs of a heathcare reform debate that was stacked against the average wroking and non-working slob from the get go.

Oh well. Good thing to know that the Big One Party, Money Party is alive and well.

As unlike the rest of us, the inner circle of its members are all so well insured.

8. Left Brain vs. Right Brain

Take one side away, you can't function.
But one side can be dominant.

As long as people have the freedom to choose there will be opposing sides.
That's republicans vs. democrats.
And further, democrats vs. democrats.

Obama is not trying to shove a half-assed bill up their ass.
He's requesting that they put their heads together to find a solution that benefits all.

Totally stripping the Republicans of all their sense of power is not a good idea.
You see how they are acting now with Obama handing out olive branch after olive branch.

They're kicking and screaming because they have to deal with policies that are opposite to theirs, plus being lead by a black man.

Imagine what they would do if they were shut out completely.

Thats leadership! If we end up with a half assed public option and a mandate to buy insurance there is no way to call this bill anything but a rank corporate sell out.

12. Watch the movie Matewan if you want to understand what Iam talking about

The movie is everything a movie should be - four stars from the critics. Entertaining as well as informative. Written and directed by John Sayles, who is one of the most instructive people ever about the Body Politic.

When Working Class Repugs can be worked up against working class Dems, such that now both factions of workers are engaged in a struggle that makes the people on the top laugh themselves silly while they continue the plunder of our economy, then then those at the top know they have succeeded.

Obama is simply one of those at the top. But he is not really the inner circle. He has to take his marching orders.

And so far, from his actions over the summer, what becomes crystal clear is that he was to told to stall and to stall and to stall. At least as far as the Public Option.

Why visit town hall meetings to consort with his critics? Why? Is this how LBJ went about getting the Civil Rights Act passed -- go around and ask a bunch of people opposed to de-segregation how they felt about it?

So Obama is all concillatroy with the RW crowd. And not in a constructive and informative way , but in a way that indicates he was told to SELL US OUT. When one of those critics asks him a question relating to how a public option is unAmerican, as it will force the Good Natured Insurance Companies out of business as they won't be able to compete, then Obama not only gives a dim witted answer, he mentions how he could care less about the public option. "Public option is just one of many tools we have at our disposal, and I don't know if it will even be something that we keep on in the final bill."

You are being played, and you don't want to recognize that fact. Why I don't know. There are still worthwhile Dems out there - look to Grayson, for example.

But if you are following the Goldman Sachs flow chart of "real recovery" that is occurring - a jobless homeless recovery such that the actual name for it is "Depression" then you must really want to keep the wool over your eyes.

10. Oh FFS!

For years I have been far out on the left (in UK terms) and I have seen this same bs come out of brainless left wingers. All it got them (or me) was the Blair government (a Murdoch industries subsidiary). It is exactly like those children you see children screaming in the supermarket for any toy or sweet or glittery gee-jaw that catches their eye.

You do not get healthcare reform or wars ended by saying "I want it all NOW! or I'll hold my breath until I turn blue," or I'll thcweam and thcweam until I'm thick,*" You start by getting healthcare reform in place then you increase it until all that is left is the rump of the health insurance industry scrabbling for the few who are willing to pay exorbitantly for crumbs of priviledge. Wars are not safely ended by crying "Sauve qui peut!" and beginning a general rout, you withdraw carefully and thoughtfully. You engage with the enemies and civilian authorities to ensure the safety of all people and troops.

Obama wants healthcare reform begun, because once begun it will be expanded because people and business and doctors will want it expanded.

11. Nothing Obama has done over the past six months impresses me that he

Wants any sort of Health Care Reform.

I was around when LBJ "Wanted" the Civil Rights Act to pass, and believe me, he did not canvass the nation looking for segregationists to have a discussion with. he wanted the Civil Rights Act and he got it, because he was really effective at

1) Being on message
2) Pulling out all the stops in terms of having the Congress bow to his wishes.

DU'er Shred has a post up this morning on how wishy washy Obama is about wanting a "public option." He does NOT want a public option. Back when he was still a very decent person, running for the Illinois Senate, he wanted Universal Single Payer Health care for all. But then he started wanting to be PResident, so by Dec 2007, he was qualifying that proposal by saying, "Although SPUNHC is the best solution, it is not one we can turn to, as we already have a health care system in place, and we must work with that." (One of the most illogical statements any one of Obama's IQ has ever issued.) And he started hanging around with the banksters like Geithner, who has an office just down the hall from the Oval Office in the White House.

i have to judge people by

1) their friends
2) their actions. You are free to judge them by what they SAY they want and what they SAY they will do, but to me, that is of little import.

I wish the "old" Barack Obama, the guy who ran for the Senate, would come back. But that is unlikely.

14. After listening to most of this, here are two comments:

One - Nothing can ever prevent Obama from being a mesmerizing speech giver.

Two - Same old same old in this speech. Like my spouse, a once fervent Obama supporter if ever there was one, would summarize " 'And Blah Blah Blah Blah' - though very mesmerizingly."

If there is something I am missing, like a section of speech wherein he apologizes for Geithner and Bernanke's Eleven Trillion Dollars in give aways and government guarantees, all without any regulation or meaningful oversight, let me know. I really truly would LOVE TO HEAR him start talking about pulling the Wicked Duo of Finance out and putting some decent people in (Not Summers or Rubin pls!) So the day that happens let me know.

But Main Street is boarded up. Houses are being froreclosed... And like much more astute minds than mind state that the secret game plan behind all of this si to get the Dow firmly above 10K and then pull the plug.

Geithner and Bernanke's game plan cannot work, at least not long term. For months or even for a couple of years, it can. (Pump eleven trillion bucks into anything, and it will work.) But at some point it will crumble.

And this game plan of theirs will be known as Obam's gameplan. I did not support Hillary Clinton last year, because of her insistence on wanting Greenspan, who was the architect of all the past bubbles, onto her economic team. But Obama embracing Greenspan's proteges its as foolish as Senator Clinton's notions.
