3. Good God you two, get a room!
Just kidding.

Actually, John L. Armstrong is using a really fun method of antagonizing Jesus freaks -- making the (correct) case that the God of The goddamn Bible is a douchebag.

Another fun one is to wait for the Jesus-based hatred of gays to rear its head. When that happens, make the case that Jesus was a homosexual or a bisexual. Stand back and watch the fun!

4. god, where are you? yoo-hoo, oh god.
I don't understand what all the fuss is about. Here's a simple statement:
THERE IS NO GOD.
Now, if you don't agree, then prove it wrong. Since this can't be done, end of discussion. As far as the bible is concerned, it's just as valid a proof of god's existence as Grimm's fairy tales.
Jesus = Rumpelstiltskin.
THE END

8. He'll just fall back on the old canard that "You can't prove a negative"
Edited on Mon Oct-19-09 10:07 AM by TalkingDog
You can't prove something DOESN'T exist. An argument which I find to be disingenuous.

I think the better way to approach that question is to ask them to make a positive proof that the Universe and all that the idea of Universe encompasses (waves, fields, particles, etc) came from nothing.

Since you can't prove nothing, how exactly is that supposed to work?

(BTW, I don't "believe in" much of anything, so it's not about religiosity. Nor am I a "skeptic" of the American sort. I just get tired of "Atheist/Skeptics" making lazy arguments)

Edited for an attempt at clarity.

7. Your argument is no match for circular logic.
The fact the Bible exists is all the proof a christian fundamentalist needs to prove (to himself at least) that God exists. All through the Bible it tells people to have faith (i.e. believe without proof). Add in a minimum critical mass of other people who also believe, and the proof is ironclad. No amount of logic or verifiable facts can defeat this level of willing suspension of disbelief.

6. Just an Obsevation
It seems like Christian apologetics has finally met its match and in the past the opiate of the masses had its way within Christendom but now it seems since we have massive communication outlets now ,people of reason and logical skepticism are winning. They have always been there but the difference now is large population can now see and hear the rebutalls and they are pretty damn good ones.
