I can almost believe that what's-her-name is indeed so fundamentally ignorant and stupid that she really doesn't know what "Great White Hope" means.

I mean... "GOP" does = "clueless" after all.... in ALL social strata.

4. I am not a US citizen

..and therefore might not be as a aware of the connotations of certain words and expressions. I could have used that phrase in the general meaning of "a contender". Even when speaking about a black man probably. :)

But, given the situation, it is ofc. rather hard to beleive that the choice of phrase in this situation was not originating from a very ugly place inside.

5. Seems to me...

...that black politicians and pundits are cutting this lady - Jenkins - way too much slack over this. Wonder if they're just willing to let her keep digging? I'm waiting for Congresswoman Jenkins to send Maxine, or somebody, a note of 'explanation' and a thank you for being so understanding about this 'misspeak', and end it with 'It sure has been 'mighty white of you'.'
