...it is evident in the things they support.
The Christian Reicht have been promoting greed for several decades in their megachurches. This is in direct opposition to the prophet they profess to love who taught that greed was *not* good. This prophet indicated that greed is the worst and indeed we see it in this world today how it decimates entire populations in order for a few to hoard and allow the rest to starve.
Jesus responded to a question from a rich man who professed to be a good man who did everything according to his religion's rules, giving to the poor, obeying the Law, etc. The man wanted to know how he could get into heaven or if he was going to heaven after he died. Jesus told him that the *only* way into heaven was to "sell everything you have, give it all to the poor and then live according to what I am teaching ..." The man left in sorrow because he was not willing to give up all his riches. This is when Jesus turned to the crowd and said the following: "It is the truth, it is harder for a rich man to enter the gates of heaven than for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle..."
Greed is what is destroying our world literally through global warming where corporations are decimating it for their profits, much less to the break down of society who favors the rich over the poor in this country ~ to the applause often of tea baggers and "Christians." They refuse to listen to their own prophet, they ignore what He tried to tell them. Instead they focus on sex as the "worst" sin so they can continue to rake in the dough.
I have studied the above story in the Aramaic, which is the original language that Jesus spoke. Jesus was speaking to a society who actually believed that God loved the rich more than the poor, when in fact it is the opposite. It is quite clear that wealth of any more than you need is no way to be a Christian according to Jesus. I did not see in his statements He was saying that starvation and misery is what All That Is wants either, but more that we make sure all are taken care of so that nobody lacks if we can. Otherwise she would be out there making sure ALL Americans, indeed the entire world, gets what they need, not deprive them of it, especially the poor, the "least among us" including prisoners, and the lowest of low whoever that is in her mind.
Tell your "Christian" friend that, until she follows her prophet's words and gives everything she owns away so she can experience what the poor are living and the misery that a few wealthy cause, she is *not* obeying her own religious laws. She can "tea bag" all she wants but she is standing in direct opposition to her own prophet she professes to love and follow.
Matter of fact also quote the Sermon on the Mount where He told the people that the ones who get into heaven (do not have to relive the hells they cause for others until they realize the error of their ways) and experience most directly God's love is when you take care of the "least of these:"
(Matthew 25: 34-46):
34"Then the King will say to those who were righteous, 'Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. 35For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.'
37"Then the righteous will answer him, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?'
40"The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.'
41"Then he will say to those who were unrighteous, 'Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire you must live for the ones who ignored me. 42For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.'
44"They also will answer, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?'
45"He will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.'
46"Then they will go away to God's punishment they suffer until they realize the error of their ways, but the righteous to eternal life." (emphasis mine)
Matter of fact give a copy of what I just wrote to her with no comment. Just cut and past it into a text or Word document and print. She will not be very happy, but it is in direct quotes according to the Aramaic as to truly what her own prophet taught that she is ignoring. If she truly believes in her beloved prophet she would do what He says.
