Live interview from America's Future Now in Washington DC. Watch more at http://www.theyoungturks.com.

One interesting aside comment when Cenk asks him when there will be courage to stand up to Democrats who take so much money from insurance companies. In his answer Dean indicates that he believes they will get primary opponents, says that is one of the reasons for DFA which he now works with. He said when he was chairman he was not interested in running primary opponents. Sounds like he might be now.

3. Private insurance won't drop from 100% to 15% of the market
like Cenk said in the video. In the US about 50-60% of healthcare is funded publically (medicare, medicaid, VA, community health centers, CDC, SCHIP, etc).

Even in our private system barely 40-50% of healthcare is private vs other OECD nations which are around 10-20% private.

So our system is already mostly public, and we have far more in common with other OECD nations than we think.

But I agree, we need the public option. I would love to see the public option combined with the ideas obtained from the 1.1 billion in cost saving research into medicine that was added to the stimulus. Combine streamlined administration with possibly negotiations on bulk purchases and more efficient care and 30%+ savings are possible over private plans.

4. Great interview.
We need Dr. Dean involved at the leadership level, someplace. I would have loved to see him lead DHS or whatever federal agency is the equivalent.

5. It's amazing how the media does it.
I just watched a brief segment on health care with Shuster on MSNBC....they talked all around the issue but never mentioned Dean's name or the activists for public option and single payer.. They seemed to be talking only about all the promises from the private sector.

6. I know.
It pisses me off too. Shuster is usually a pretty fair host who asks some tough questions of his guests. Surprising.

11. I have been looking, but usually day time segments don't get archived.
Unless someone puts up a video at You Tube. I have often searched for an interview I would see with Norah or Shuster during the day, and I never could find one.

There was a lady from Texas, a university I think, who was speaking on the topic. I heard the words public option mentioned briefly, then on to the private sector promises.

7. Dr. Dean knows of what he speaks...
We must have health care reform this year. It's sad ( as a former health care worker ) to see what has happened to health care in America. In East Tennessee and southwest Virginia, Profit Care comes ahead of Patient Care. How many more people will have to die so the profit machine makes their profit margin ? http://www.wisecountyissues.com/?p=62

13. Thanks for this. It's always good to see Dr., Gov., Chairman
Dean, and he's not on the TV the way that he was as Chair.

I noticed the comment about primaries, too.
