MSNBC Countdown w/ KEITH OLBERMANN - Feb. 3, 2009: Constitution scholar Jonathan Turley discusses investigation of U.S. Attorney scandal and Turdblossom's capitulation. "Floating ice they're standing on is getting smaller and smaller... can't continue to maintain the rather untenable position that their going to invoke executive privilege to protect the executive branch against information from the executive. It's rather bizarre."

"You don't want to be the last sailor protecting Capt. Queeg's strawberries."

2. If there are any dirty Bush appointed judges,
we need them to start turning in resignations.

4. I hope this does move forward
As the message needs to be sent, loud and clear, that you cannot violate the law and hope to get away with it no matter who you are or what position you might currently be in.

5. "You don't want to be the last sailor defending Capt. Queeg's strawberries."
That was a good one. It casts GWB as crazy Captain Queeg, and it neatly sums up the principle cops have used for a long time--once you crack one of the gang members, they may all start pointing fingers at each other, and give up the whole plot. Rove and Harriet Miers may be the easiest to crack. The prospect of prison will weigh heavily on them.

It was good, too, to point out that as far as the Justice Department, a part of the Executive Branch, the argument of executive privilege can't very well apply. "We're trying to protect the Executive from the Executive." The real problem for Rove is there is a new Executive who doesn't want him to keep quiet. And that trumps the "dead hand" of a former Executive.

Rove is just delaying the inevitable. The truth of the Bush administration's dirty dealings will come out. Hopefully, the truth will come out in criminal court, and the guy with the tiny croquet mallet will say, "Guilty!"

6. I surely did enjoy the Queeg reference
I wondered how long it took to come up with that one - because for the reasons you state, it was a perfect one!

7. I wouldn't be surprised if...
Rove had an "accident" or committed "suicide".

9. How many times have we heard
this or that "may happen"?

Like someone else here said...I'll believe it when I see it.

And even then, a Rove indictment doesn't mean much. I want to see REAL convictions, dammit...
