The sound seems ok.

The Prayer is awesome!

Too bad it wasn't telecasted!
I hope the 500,000 that gathered listened, if nothing else!

1. This kind of "prayer"

is why I don't go to church. I can't live in that kind of constant misery and it certainly didn't fit the "We Are One" uplifting unity of the day.

Bless us with tears and anger.. and gloom and doom - forever and ever -

blech.

But thanks for posting, although several people who were there said the sound did cut out.

4. Perhaps a section of speakers may have had trouble.....

but as you can hear, whomever was filming didn't pick up any sound problems.

As for Invocations and Benedictions, I've never seen that done at entertainment events....
although I guess this one was quasi-political, since politicians spoke; Obama and Biden.

I remember seeing the benediction after Obama's speech at the National Democratic Convention, although I don't know who the guy was, other than he favored Bush. I don't recall seeing the invocation at that event though....possibly because it was so early in the program.

Not just him. Maybe it was even why there was a break after him, to fix the sound problems. Watching the whole program, what could they have cut to fit him in? It looks to me like it went as quickly and smoothly as possible.

I watched about every second of the convention so I did see invocations and that sort of thing. And couldn't tell you what was said in any of them or who led them if I were having my fingernails pulled out one by one.

I see what sandnsea was talking about, though about the "doom and gloom." But having grown up in the deep South, I'm no stranger to that type of churchin'. :)

That prayer was not anything like the old days of "fire and brimstone" and "forever burn in hell" prayers of times past. That was real doom and gloom.

8. I heard it well on the vid. nice prayer that didn't "wear" any rose-colored glasses

about the realities of the world as it is. I don't know about praying for anger, but more about praying for action to be taken to help relieve the anger many of us face, but, he gave a wonderful prayer.

Now, let's see what Warren has to say that others wrote for him, meaning, like how he asked black ministers what he should say on MLK day in Atlanta I'm sure he's looked at recent prayers from previous inaugs, and will ask what sounds good - as that man has nothing but bizarre comments when he's pushed to give a response to a question on the spot - his words are babble and hateful when he comes up with things on his own!

9. It didn't seem gloomy to me.

Hearing that preacher mention all of the injustices that have been perpetrated or ignored by the outgoing administration didn't make me feel sad. It reminded me that maybe this new leader can put a stop to some of these injustices and that is something to be happy about, IMO.

Sure, it is probably unreasonable to expect so much but we chose to send this man to Washington to use his influence and assert himself on behalf of not only Americans and our own domestic issues, but also people outside the US who have been suffering and dying by the thousands. His job is too important take even one single day off from reminding President Obama how much they need his help and that we expect nothing less than his best effort.

I'm not a religious person but to hear a prayer that acknowledged so many of the problems in this world and that we have a President who intends to deal with them was really quite uplifting for me.

May injustice anger us
May we draw upon injustices committed against us to recognize when injustice is inflicted upon others
May we work for the cause of justice and the end of avoidable human suffering
Grant us wisdom and safety in our work in the name of justice for all

...and he called upon those who followed him to be angered by injustice.

I guess most people associate anger with aggression and/or violence. But then there is righteous anger, you know, like we feel for the criminals about to vacate the White House. The righteous anger that we all felt compelled us to work peaceably for justice.

What is so freaking difficult to understand about that?

I really like Robinson but religion and politics should never mix.
