The reporter says the 9/11 bit as the cross talk is going on but he does say it.

Today, President Bush left for Camp David for what is expected to be his last departure from the White House via Marine One. During Fox News’s coverage of the event, hosts Martha MacCallum and Wendell Goler tried to rewrite history for Bush:

GOLER: This president inherited a budget surplus, but he also inherited what he called “the trifecta of bad times.” There’s the president headed out to Marine One right now. <…> He inherited the 9/11 attacks. He inherited the recession and he inherited some tough times on Wall Street.

1. Why should they stop rewriting history?
I mean, that's their full-time job...

3. That's why I don't watch Fox News
Its the propaganda arm of the RNC.
NO one passed the high school us constitution requirement without
knowing that the Bush officially seized power in January 2001.
Bushniks constantly try to claim his administration didn't start until September.
Remember: No information originating with Fox News is worth your attention.

8. While I don't agree that Bush "inherited" 9/11, the plans
for the attack were well underway before he took office. That is why it is so vital that we stop playing politics with the threat of terrorism.

12. Agreed, but who's the "we" there? And which policies are "playing politics" and which aren't?
Simply blandly stating "we can't play politics" and then not filling in the difficult details has been the Republican modus operandi for ages.

(which is doubtless part of what fueled trumad's reaction to your post.)

15. Hey, sorry I did not provide more details on my post.
I am just frustrated that national security get's treated like it's a party issue. I guess I could have gone on about the repug congress spending so much time distracting the Clinton administration with the sundry investigations instead of both focusing on the growing threat; but we all know that.

I resent being called a troll.

Clinton gave Dubya all the information about a possible attack on the WTC; it wasn't Clinton's fault that Dubya chose to ignore that info and go golfing.:wtf: :eyes:

Clinton told him that bin Laden would be a "top priority" for his administration. Bush said that he disagreed; that he saw Iraq as his top issue. Clinton had TRIED to take bin Laden out when he knew where he was, but the Repugs in congress cynically would not authorize the strike because they said that he was "trying to distract from Lewinsky" and "attempting to leave a legacy" so YES, playing politics with the threat of terrorism is idiotic.

Where is bin Laden now? Did we "smoke him out"? Nope, he's living comfortably in Pakistan. Bush let him walk. If you want to learn more about this issue then I suggest that you watch this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2vTFesgMkzk

33. Bullshit! We have had an executive branch
of government that politicized every single issue for eight fucking years! Anyone that would defend a single action, or inaction, by the Bush Administration has zero credibility. It is highly likely that the Bush Administration allowed 9/11 to happen as a ruse to grab power and as justification for the Iraq War.

You, sir, are a stealth Republican!

30. Don't we all have that day entrenched in our memories?
No of course not. I was in the Army when it happened and the feeling I got was a dismissive "it was just New York" from the major media.

February 26, 1993. Clinton had been in office for 5 weeks not 8 months (or the really lame "222 days" that they peddled for a while) but you never hear that. You also hear no mention at all of the US Embassy bombing in Yemen 5 months ago. Can't mention that you know. And the Christian Militia hosted Oklahoma City bombing has been long forgotten.

They have actually been able to pin Ruby Ridge on Clinton and he was still the Governor of Arkansas for crying out loud.

Or if an attack should occur on U.S. soil under his watch?

32. No they won't
They are already gearing it up. Faux has Oliely telling us that Obama is going to CHANGE Bush terror procedures and that it is a Bad thing. The pundits will claim that Obama cannot claim that Bush War on Terror processes were not working because " we have not been attacked since 911"....

I say screw it better to change failed policy and deal with circumstances should they arise.

28. Other bogus "inheritances": recession and Enron
Things were a bit wobbly at the end of Clinton, thanks to the dot-com bust, but it didn't start going down until after Bush took office.

And claiming Bush "inherited" Enron is as baldfaced a lie as "Kenny who?"
