dragged out, poked through that phony 'you my brown eyed girl' mystique of hers, the only one she knows; and called on it straight up!!

2. Does anyone want a POTUS or VPOTUS who won't answer questions?
That should disqualify her right then and there.

18. Gwen Ifill failed at her job misearbly!
She says it's not her job to control Palin when she refuses to answer her questions: that's Biden's job. What a joke! that's why we don't have serious debates: these jokers on mainstream media are paid so much money most of us doing real work can't even imagine and on top of that they are paid NOT to do their job. failure is rewarded, success is punished. it's like the Vienna elite in 1890.

17. Why do they think the VP is part of the legislative branch?
I see them positioning the VP to override the legislative branch? Is it just me or is this close to a dictatorship?Separation of powers doesn't mean you shit on the other branches of govt as needed!

19. The sad thing about WHY these debates don't seem to matter anymore is -
They are no longer sponsored by the League of Women Voters, who WOULD have imparted the rules as they should have applied. Palin would have either complied or be shown as the nothing that she really is.

The current Presidential debate structure has managed to replace the League. This group running the "debates" is a PRIVATE group, who in name sound like they are some unbiased organization.

What a lie, what a joke, INDEED.

20. Damned cowards. They left out the video where Ifill says
"As moderator, I will not ask any follow-up questions beyond 'do you agree?' or 'your response?'"

Since when is this Biden's responsibility, as the real Ifill says? The format didn't provide for that. The format did not allow for a free exchange. Everything was time-sliced into big long chunks. Biden did go through his "I didn't hear ..." litany. But other than that, only the moderator was in a position to address this.

Ifill could, for example, have denied candidates the follow-up time if they derailed the question.

She could have phrased your questions more forcefully and insisted that the answers be responsive. Of course, Palin could have and would have strayed off anyway, but at least it would have been more apparent. After Palin strayed off, she could have turned to Biden and said, "You may respond to the comments about taxes if you wish, but let me remind you the question was about gay rights."

But nobody should have expected anything more from the News Hour gang. They are accustomed to bringing people into their studio and just putting a mic in front of them, never challenging naything. It is a totally worthless program, IMHO. I haven't watched it for 15 years.

22. As a debate, that hour and a half was worthless. It was not a debate. It was an unmoderated
CHARADE.

Like they're all getting to be.

25. Wha? Ifill says that when Biden didn't confront Palin, she wouldn't either?
Please tell me someone at that little panel here pointed out that if Biden had confronted Palin instead of going after McCain he'd have been hung, drawn, and quartered in the press (i.e., that little panel). Biden knew that. He knew that had even slightly attacked Palin on her demeanor, her debate performance, and her intelligence, he'd have been excoriated as a misogynist, as an elitist, as a 'meanie'. He saw what they did to Al Gore when he intelligently debated Bush**, and knew what would happen if he wasn't incredibly careful debating bush**clone Sarah Palin. Gwen Ifill, on the other hand, wasn't only supposed to be neutral, she was also the only one there that could point out Palin's lack of answers etc wihtou being accused of being misogynistic, but she didn't. Ergo, she failed at her job.
