This is awesome -- Joe Biden just tears John McCain and Sarah Palin apart for completely ignoring every single major economic issue facing America and for offering nothing but sarcastic personal attacks.

3. I absolutely LOVE the way he talks
When he's saying "nice dress, is that your mother's?" he's like talking to your buddy at work. THAT shit will resonate with the "I'd like to have a beer with" crowd. And for what it's worth, I'd love to have a beer with Joe. :D

71. If he can go for Palin's throat and expose her as the eye candy that she was selected for,
she's toast.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Biden doesn't pull punches because she's a woman.

Crash is pretty much discredited. Reviews on his convention speech were mixed at best. The way the media stooges have been propping him up through his previous gaffes, that's saying something. I was expecting them to declare that he hit a home run that rivaled Obama's speech.

That's why Palin's getting so much attention and oogling from the media gerbils. If she can be exposed as the hypocrite that she is, then it's over.

Remember though that Reagan "won" a lot of debates with nary a reasonable though in that empty head of his. He had nice quips and charisma. So Joe has to be careful because while Palin lacks substance, she's smarter than Reagan and she is also charismatic and MILFY hot!!!

It seemed like everything was POW, 9-11, and attack the Obama/Biden ticket.

I certainly didn't hear anything on how they will address the economic problems, the war and other issues concerning Americans.

18. Joe Biden was born to be Barack's VP. He knows he's part of history...
He knows that history will remember this election in a special way, from Hillary's historic run to Obama's nomination. And contrast what an Obama-Biden administration can do to heal us after 8 years of darkness under Bush-Cheney. Joe Biden was made for this. I've never seen him happier, better or more in his element. It's amazing to watch.

25. yesterday
I was trying to make the point about using high school memories to make a point quickly and to brand someone (the thread is over now-- but it was the Mean Girls thread re Palin).

a fellow DUer jumped on me telling me it was juvenile to suggest such a thing (mean girls from high school, palin being one of them) and today, Biden is on here reminding us all of the guy in school who picked on your new belt. As in, that's the Republicans. that's what they are doing. Because once you make a point like that, everyone gets it and so much more. It isn't just that the person is mean, it's what we now know about the high school bully (that they were insecure/had no argument/etc).

It could be that I made my argument poorly, but I was trying to "brand" her in a visceral way...This guy then tells me that would never work, what's next, we put John McCain in a high school varsity jacket?

My answer: I guess so. From your mouth to Joe's ears.

GO JOE!

P.S. This kind of thing is effective, so when you leave comments on other sites, if it is appropriate, it can make a point to those people who don't read long policy statements, etc (IE, the uniformed voters -- and there are many of them). It doesn't mean we don't care about the issues or policies, because we know we can debate those. But it reaches people who are only paying attention to symbols, sound bites, etc. (repukes have been beating us at this for years because their base is typically ignorant/misinformed/uninformed and they've focused on dumbing them down even more).

Everyone knows who the high school bullies were and what they stood for; Not everyone understands Washington politics, fair play, the rules of the DoJ, the rules of the Congress, the rules for the POTUS.

To everyone on here who is supportive in general, THANK YOU.

This is an EQUAL OPPOTUNITY world now. :grr: Just LET HER HAVE IT! :grr: Tell the truth and let her FEEL the heat. :grr:

The word "maverick: was coined as a reference to a guy of that name. This Maverick fella had a sneaky way of stealing other folk's cattle - did so by claiming it was cruel to cattle to brand them. As a consequence, come round-up time, Maverick would lay claim to ANY cattle on the range that weren't branded.... EVEN IF THEY WEREN'T RIGHTFULLY HIS! GOOD GOD! Is that sorta underhandedness familiar to any of us who've suffered thru Gingrich's "Contract On America" or the Bush/Cheney treasury draining?????

39. This kind of speaking will win it for them.
They are talking issues, and stating the fact that the Republican candidate is speaking the same tired rhetoric that we have heard since the days of NIXON! Not to mention, I have heard that sorry assed POW story since 1973! I can probably recite it in my damn sleep, but I babble.

At any rate, Obama and Biden are going to take the high road, and Grandpa and the Tundra Snipe will toss out the vitriol. When they are asked REAL questions, about REAL issues they are screwed, spewed, and tattooed! I honestly think that McCain believes that the press are going to give him a free ride, all the way to the White House. After the remarks made by Failin' Palin, that is not the case. Prepare for the press to come out swinging.

And they're not done with her case in Alaska yet. My question, what happens if she is found guilty? Will Bush pardon her? If Bush pardons her, how will they be able to say that they are "Mavriks?" (misspelled from a sign on the floor last night)

The attacks from Obama and Biden will be precise and hit them where they are most vulnerable. That is squarely in the "issues," where Gramps and the GILF have nothing to offer.

The McPhalin soul-mates have been given a little taste of what they're in for when they

get into the ring with a lion like Joe Biden.

Run away, little baby pit dog, Sarah. You don't have a leg (issue) to stand on.

I said it before and say it again; John McCain looks (to me) like a guy who'd really rather

be somewhere else, like on Comedy Central, perhaps getting his own comedy spot in Vegas.

get to hang out with Cher, Wayne Newton, maybe (imagining) Celine Dion consenting to doing a duet

with him.

81. Just for the record
Cher has been active against Bush administration policies, and has worked specifically to get our troops the proper and safe headgear they need, that Bush and McCain refused to fund. Cher even called in to c-span and let them have it on the air. Don't think she'd be hanging with McBush under any circumstances.

Somehow, I can imagine that, after many unhappy, oppressive years have passed, a favorite, beloved uncle comes to visit and brings hope by virtue of his strength of character, his encouragement, his countenance. Every time he tells about his father's admonition, "When you get knocked down, Champ, get up! Get up!", it makes me stand a little taller.

I've never met that good man, Joe Biden. Chance are that I never will. Yet, everytime I see him on TV or on a computer video, it make me think that he used to sit at the Sunday dinner (lunch in the old days) table some 60 years ago when I was a kid. Oh, I know it wasn't Joe. But, doesn't he give off that warm familiarity that makes you comfortable? That you've known him? Or, is it just me?

In any event, I couldn't be prouder to have Joe Biden on the ticket. He brings hope to this old Texan and, I believe, to our Country and the world.

I have never been happier or prouder to be a democrat. We finally have candidates who are not afraid to be Democrats and are willing to throw some punches.

64. Baracuda from Hell
George Washington was right, the two party system WILL destroy
this country. The two party regime is what we have in US.
Many other Western Democracies have a multiple party system.
Not here.

What do you do to put the your car to go backwards? Put it in
“R”
To drive forward, you put it in “D”. I am sure you know what
those letters stand for – I doubt Republicans in denial would
work it out, though...

Now, I will never believe that if a Woman were a President,
the wars would stop, because women would never send their kids
to war.
She is sending her own son to fight a war that has nothing to
do with our security. Shame on you, Mother...
---------------
When I think of Palin, I’m thinking “Drill Here Drill Now.”

To say the Palin nomination isn’t about gender is extremely
naive. She wouldn’t have been chosen if she’d been a man with
the same resume.
She has not been outside of the country, and only got a
passport a year ago!

She looks like a stripper in teachers garb. I keep expecting
her to rip off her glasses and grab a pole.

And yes it is creepy to see old man McCain standing next to a
cute chick 30 years his junior.

BTW. The Republican Party was the most progressive Party since
1860 – for about 108 years. They were better than Democrats.
Only Ron Paul stayed faithful to the Republican ideals...so
far.

67. Palin and McCain have similar personalities
Their personalities are those of bullies. McCain was a bully in school. She was known as the Barracuda. I believe that it would be hell being married to her. It is all about her. She doesn't give a damn about the welfare of her daughter. She is forcing her into a marriage to an uncouth punk high school dropout that doesn't have a pot to pee in or a window to throw it out of. The only thing that they have to look forward to is a divorce court. The importance of this is do they have the temperament to lead the nation? McCain is noted for his uncontrollable rages. He is the epitome of narcissism. Me, Me, ME! He demonstrates the same characteristics as the man he wishes to replace. A privileged underachieving brat that got into a Annapolis because of his fathers pull, and just like Bush, abused the privilege and graduated at the bottom of his class. He should have been kicked out for the demerits that he acquired except for his father's intervention.

68. WIth all due respect to Hillary.........
and the Hillary supporters.............Joe Biden is the perfect man for the job! He really HAS been drinking beers with these people for years......
Langhorn Pa............. .......I had an illegal abortion there years ago. It was HORRIBLE, TACKY, SEEDY, ILLICITE, and I wound up in the hospital a month later getting a blood transfusion of 5 pints. ( I think that's about 1/2 the bodies normal amount)
Historically, this occurred 1 1/2 - 2 months before JFK's assassination.
October '62, the Cuban Missile Crisis: My husband, Nat Guard Reserve, was deployed to Ft Stewart, GA. Over the candlelight wine And steak farewell dinner I had prepared: he "confessed to having slept with another woman, and left the next morning........leaving me with 2 children ages 2 & 3, in the cute little rental house we had worked so hard to redecorate.
Enter the marital breach that had to be dealt with, paradise lost!
The army refurbished some housing and we wives were able to go to Ga by Jan.
( There's another story I have to tell. The experience bore NO RESEMBLANCE TO the deadly killer training of the military today, but was more like "Operation Petticoat", "Mash, "Father Goose".)
Because JFK was a great & skillful President, and diplomatically avoided the crisis peacefully, the reserves were sent home again in July '63.
I was pregnant. MY HUSBANDS BABY; but because the marriage had been so damaged, I did NOT want to bring another child into it.
We found a connection through the underground grapevine, surreptitiously met with a man, in a parking lot, behind a greasy spoon in Trenton NJ, gave him a lot of cash, and were led to a ticky tack 50's house in Langhorn Pa. for the procedure.
Injection of a saline solution, no medical personnel present.........and I went home and aborted the baby in my in law's bathroom, the next day. He was a boy. Beyond the third trimester, he had finger nails already...............
We had to sneak around and pretend nothing out of the ordinary, ( but a normal miscarriage) was happening, a Dr. was called, but, HE KNEW, and didn't want to deal with it...........so, I wasn't hospitalized, I never expelled the afterbirth.
A month later I started bleeding and bleeding, and was so depressed, ashamed, so in denial, I ignored it, until I collapsed from lack of blood! I almost died! I was 24 years old.
Third Trimester......we wasted several months trying to find an illegal abortionist! Today I could go to the Dr. and have an abortion in a timely manner. MORE important. I would have had access to MUCH MORE EFFECTIVE BIRTH CONTROL METHODS AND NOT GOTTEN PREGNANT TO BEGIN WITH.
JUST 10 YEARS LATER WHEN I ENDED THAT MARRIAGE I had all of those things available, Thanks to Lynden Johnson's "LIBERAL" GOVERNMENT.
I am so alarmed by Sara Palin and the fundie nutz, I hope by breaking my privacy I can help defeat them!
Postscript: Karma does bring consequences.............I have lost my first & only son to lung cancer 3 years ago, would his capricorn ( responsible ) brother have been here to help his sister fill in the $ gap, I am experiencing due to the SS short sheeting?
Would he have built the closet for Mom, I had to do myself, last month?

77. I don't believe in turning back the clock on abortion rights, either.
I'm sorry you suffered so terribly in the years before abortion was illegal. We must fight to keep birth control in all it's forms available so our daughters and granddaughters won't be forced to endure a backalley aboriton.

111. Joe Biden totally rocks
I love his fiery spirit and remember one hearing with a Bushie where he's grilling the guy and you can almost see the steam coming out of his (Biden's) ears, he's so pissed about the war.

The only problem with Biden in 2016 is that Biden is in his 60s now. I would have loved him as president, too, but I will be perfectly happy with him as veep. And anyone who thinks he should go gentle on Scary Palin because "she's a girl" is bloody sexist. She refers to herself as a pit bull in lipstick, she was probably thrilled to be called Sarah Barracuda, and she apparently didn't object to having "Barracuda" played when she was onstage (although the writers of the song clearly did). The governor can handle a little rough treatment in a debate. If she can't, then it should be even MORE obvious that she is unsuited to be vice president.

And how lovely that they didn't mention the fucking issues. Yeah, the Dems were imperfect by not mentioning poverty, but they managed to get in a hell of a lot of other issues that are pretty important. Apparently, the Republicans had 9/11 Tourette's. I didn't watch much of the Republican convention, but when I saw the "Drill Here" helmet, I thought, what, in your head?

98. THIS Is Why I Felt Joe Biden Needed To Be The VP Pick For Dems!
I admit I wasn't a supporter of either Obama or Clinton, but Obama most CERTAINLY made the very BEST choice by picking Biden!

My wish is that he won't hold back during the ONE debate. My biggest worry is that living in the Semi-SOUTH, I'm surrounded by far too many MORANS! Even my ex-sister-in-law STILL says Obama is a Muslim. She would do anything for anyone and has a heart of gold, but not very educated. I've told her over and over and over that he's not, but can't get through to her. I'll keep working on her to vote for Obama, she usually follows my lead, but it amazes me that even SHE still believes this!

It's something we've talked about many, many times. She's not mean or nasty about it, she just can't get past his name! And unfortunately I fear there are too many more like her. They vote by "sound-bite" not "issues" and what the consequences will be! Plus, RACE does enter into the equation for those her age, born and bred in the south... she's 70 years old now and older people vote!

I realize the younger generation is MUCH MORE open and willing to over-look color and am glad to see the inter-racial marriages and couples, I just worry about a bunch of old-farts who can't get past GO!

So, all of you 40 and under had BETTER GOTV, work like never before because my sense is that the people who generally vote are stuck in the past!! It's up to you!

JMHO!

I almost feel bad for Sarah Palin. I know she's clever. But Joe Biden is just so much more clever it will be like a lamb going to the slaughterhouse. The VP debate should be a bloodbath.
