I hope they run this ad, and similar ads regularly until Election Day.

10. PFFFFFT. No he's not.
Ohioans will never SEE these ads and if they do, they wouldn't care, because all they see on our side is an uppity you-know-what-those-Klansmen-call-them. Just like in 2000 and 2004; they loved Bewsh and hated all things liberal and Democratic because Faux News told them to.

Does anyone think the entire state of Ohio wasn't losing jobs these past 16 years when Repukes plagued our Senate, Governorship and in the past 8 years, the presidency? Cuyahoga County alone lost over 15% of all Ohio's lost jobs. In a recent photo essay on Yahoo entitled "America's Fastest Dying Cities", four of them were found in Ohio (three of those in heavily blue Northeast Ohio, yet we can't carry the state all by ourselves). Wow, small wonder. I guess that's what happens when you elect Freidmanist free-trader, free-market-at-all-cost idiots to high office continually.

And who, pray tell, WON DOHio in 2000 and 2004?

Fucking (Disclaimer: YES, I KNOW there are more than a few good Democrats in sparsely populated dark red counties throughout Ohio that do not appreciate the broadbrush against their regional location, but the fact remains that the numbers of "Republicans no matter WHUT voters" are still too great to overcome in at least 65 to 70 of Ohio's 88 Counties (even here in the North, we have more than our fair share of nutjobs) and goddamnit, how fucking far does the telephone pole have to snake up the ass of this nation and this state before the gaggle of dumb fucking Christian-right whack-a-doo assholes that reside here finally wake the shitting hell up and say "Enough is Enough"??? TOO far I guess. But hey, don't let ME stop you from your quest to be as racist and willfully ignorant as humanly possible) rural counties.

11. Here's MORE proof, if you don't believe me (comment on YouTube, if he's not lying):
"Just to set the record straight - the lady in the video is my WIFE - she went to talk with the senator to ask for his help. Today he came to wilmington oh as he promised and met with her and several other community leaders. She did not do this for 'Political' reasons, nor to embarass Sen. McCain. She and I are both supporters of the Senator. Also, I am a 21 year veteran pilot flying DHL cargo, and will be losing MY JOB. What did Obama do when he was in Germany last week to help? "

Astounding.

Absolutely Amazing and Astounding.

29. They dont give a fuck about that man and woman's job
And they dont even know it. They really think that if they go and talk to McCain themselves that he will care. Exactly right, how far do you have to fall and how much do you have to suffer before you say enough is enough and I am going to vote for the guy that gives me some hope that I wont lose my job and everything I have worked for. The fact that that guy is still supporting McCain actually makes me sad. What will it take?

20. I'm with ya, Hugh.
The Republicans will use some divisive issue in each region and make people forget what a clusterfuck the Republicans have left this state. In NW Ohio, it will likely be abortion. In SE Ohio, it'll likely be guns. In the Cincinnati area, they'll play on their racism in a subtle way.

Never mind that Republican ideology has run this state in the ground with 16 years of Rebublican governors and 12-14 years of Republicans controlling the state legislature, supreme court and cabinet positions. That, along with Bush's mess and its impact on Ohio.

9. EXACTLY! I will donate my entire final political donation budget
to having this run in Ohio the rest of the way, or something very similar with someone speaking and showing Rick Davis after McCain talks and says, "Senator McCain doesn't need to look any further for an answer than to himself and his campaign staffer, Rick Davis."

seriously, this issue alone will make people not vote for him... it's a brilliant line of attack, and Barack had BETTER mention it every time he's in Ohio, and other steel belt towns, and I hope it's addressed as a question to McSame at the debates - he will look HORRIBLE and not get out of the question there - that will cost him the election...

8. fun reply on youtube
snip

"He lied to this woman about the DHL merger. He knew about it, he helped create it, and when she asked, he pretended like he'd have to look into it. Mr. Double Talk Express, as Bush calls McCain. "someone" didn't lose their job. 5800 people lost their jobs. The money he got illegally (proven) from the Islamic Jordanians. If you vote for him, you're voting for Islamic Oil Interests. But then, you knew McCain wasn't a fundy Christian. He made the "switch" just like he switched wives when his first one got into an accident. Have fun with that when he supports pro-choice after moving in to the WH."

Ouch.

16. The ad says absolutely nothing.
Except McCain probably knows that Congress doesn't have jurisdiction over the present deal. The market forces are volatile, especially with energy prices the way they are. DHL is a good company. UPS is better.

This is called barking up the wrong tree.

17. This has nothing to with with UPS or DHL; it's about people losing their jobs - because of McCain.
I find your analysis of this astounding.

19. No analysis about it. People lose their jobs every day. It's not McCain's fault.
I don't want the guy to be President, but it's lame to try and put this on him.

But, if you want an analysis, you should read up about the history and volatility of this industry.

Right now things are in crisis mode because of the price of oil, and you couldn't even pin that one on the whole Congress if you tried. China, foremost, is now competing with us for limited resources.

I only speak out because these sophomoric, wanna-be quick-fix arguments just exacerbate the chance of intelligent progress and detract from problem-solving.

The real issue is how we all come together to do the best thing possible for the moment. In my mind, the only people doing that are negotiators for DHL and UPS.

23. It shows that Crash McCain and the people in his campaign are out for themselves.
And if several thousand jobs in this country are lost because of it, well, them's the breaks. I got mine. You get yours, suckers.

They should run this ad hard in Ohio. If the statistic of 8500 lost jobs doesn't piss you off, Crash's constant use of "straight talk" will nauseate you.

His use of "straight talk," after hearing him flip-flopping all over the place on issues, is a total joke.

This ad has emotional resonance, personally I dont care about what Congress can and cant do in this situation. Rick Davis still got paid on this and the ad resonates. Its time to roll around in the mud with these vultures if there is any chance of winning because they certainly are doing it to Obama. Its gloves are off time.

to any military facility or operation overseas. No shipper can be used that is more than 20% owned by a government. DHL is an extension of the Bundespost-the German post office.

35. I have lived in Ohio for the last 14 years...
I hate to tell my fellow Dems throughout the nation this but Ohio is RED! The only reason Clinton won twice is because of Perot splitting the vote. If you go twenty miles out of Cleveland or Columbus (not Cincitucky) in any direction they only care about Jesus, guns, and abortion. Trust me, they do not care if they live without shoes in SE Ohio they will not vote for a black man, period.

can propel him to victory, isn't that where all the people live??.....Obama will never win the "Jesus" areas in any state, but he will kick ass in the urban areas...

Isn't Columbus a big college town, remember Kerry barely lost (or one can make a good argument that Ohio was stolen by Blackwell in 04, he's gone now)...I don't live there, but I think Ohio can turn blue...Look at 2006, Sherrod Brown won easily, Strickland won even easier (sorry about the grammer, lol).....

If the bible thumpers were in such great numbers, they would have elected Blackwell then, who was about as far right as you can get on social issues...

38. 4 things about the last election in Ohio...
1) The Rethugs had won every last statewide election for the last 16 years, so there really was no one other than the Rethugs to blame for this mess.
2) Ken Blackwell (who was Bush/Cheney '04 co-chair and Secretary of State at the same time...conflict of interest?) followed Bob Taft (R-Douchebag) who had pled guilty to a crime while in office and had an approval rating around 9%.
3) There was nothing anti-gay or anti-abortion on the statewide ballot.
4) Ken Blackwell was a black man.
