For my money, one of the best scenes in the movie. Remember, this was 1942, and most of the bit players and extras were French or European immigrants and exiles--the emotion you see was real.

I've watched it so many times. Never fails to give me chills and brings on the tears.

2. Right down to Major Strasser (played by Conrad Veidt):

Conrad Veidt was an vehement Anti-Nazi, and had to leave Germany in 1932 because the Nazi wanted to kill him. Thus his playing Nazis in Hollywood during WWII is funny, he played them as he knew them to be, cunning, despicable, dishonest and liars who wrap themselves in the flag even as they practice what they did best (being Cunning, Despicable, Dishonest and liars).
