4. Wow, that is one superb ad
It makes the point very effectively, on a gut level, but without insulting the viewer's intelligence.

On top of that, Massa is a former Republican who served in the Navy for 24 years, so he can't readily be smeared as weak or unpatriotic. In 2006, in his first-ever run for elective office against the veteran Republican politician Randy Kuhl (who's held various elective offices since 1981), Massa lost by less than 3%. This year he can finish the job.
