2. I stand corrected....so maybe....Popeye the Sailorman would be better...but
that just goes to show you how much I really know about John McCain. Oh well. ?This still works for me and most others anyway.

So, are you a McCain supporter?

3. I think he looks a lot like Popeye, actually.

That was a rather rude question, FWIW. This is a Democratic message board. If I were a McCain supporter, I would not be welcomed here--read the DU rules, they are quite clear on that score.

I am retired Navy, and I knew Popeye slightly when he was on active duty.

It's not a bad thing to know a little something about one's opponents. In fact, most people who study war or diplomacy find it beneficial.

4. thank you for your service......
I didn't mean to be rude....just funny....but message boards are hard to tell that. And, McCain supporters COULD conceiveably be here....they don't follow the rules anyway.

I think knowing something about one's opponents is a good thing, too. I just know that McCain gets his 23,000 Social Security each year (while being married to an heiress and collecting a Government pension, too) and I only get 9,700 and my husband's pension. That is what I have learned about him. Oh, and he wants to privatize SS......

Peace.

5. I think Carol gets most of that chump change, actually.
(Carol Shepp, his first wife).

He probably has it direct deposited to her account, but since it's "his" pension, he has to put it on his tax returns. Hopefully he did the right thing and signed her up for spousal pension should he shuffle off the mortal coil--there's a payroll deduction for that, but he should be done with the deduction in 2011 (there's a thirty year cap on the deductions). It's the gentlemanly thing to do, particularly since Carol won't say word one against the fellow.

6. yeah, but Cindy is smart....she has a pre-nup.....anyway, I
would like to see HIM live on the 23,000. Then, maybe he would "get it".

I wonder...will we have a "beer drinking" contest if Hillary wins the nomination and Cindy starts campaigning. Again, just trying to be humorous.....

7. these two aren't sailors, either, but since you were service you
still might enjoy them or react to them. I wrote the poem for the one (it was picked for a sound recording by the International Poets Society) and the other is one of my favorite songs from my youth.

Again, thank you for your service. I know it couldn't have been easy.....
