THE MINISTRY OF CULTURE
announces it's inaugural project:
THE GREAT WALL OF CHINGA
"No god and no religion can survive ridicule. No political church, no nobility,
no royalty or other fraud, can face ridicule in a fair field, and live."
- Mark Twain
Manifesto
We the people, in order to inform an imperfect union,
solicit social justice, expose domestic intranquility,
provide a common ground to ridicule the fence,
demote generic warfare against people seeking the blessings of liberty for themselves and their families,
do ordain and establish
The Great Wall of Chinga
of the United States of America and Mexico,
as well as, anybody else from anywhere else,
as long as you hold true that
mockery is a serious facet of the creative mind.
The Great Wall of Chinga Project is a call to visual artists, performers, writers and other creative people to respond to the planned 700 mile barrier along the U.S./Mexican border.
"Society is a republic. When an individual tries to lift themselves above others, they are dragged down by the mass, either by ridicule or slander."
-Victor Hugo
The goal of The Great Wall of Chinga Project is to deconstruct the wall before it can be constructed, to tear down the fallacy of the fence with purposeful ridicule, serious mockery and savage satire.
Chinga, in this context means: being in a state of angst, being in the middle of the tempest.
As collections of images, ideas and designs that address the inanity of the wall are amassed, and posted on the site for all to enjoy, we pledge to periodically forward the creative response to national leaders and elected officials in order to educate their minds, to salvage their souls, and to empower their humanity. Or, just to mess with them.
The Great Wall of Chinga Project is starting as an online town hall/ design studio for the artists to feed each others creative fervor, have a few laughs, and with no great momentum, do something good.
