A coworker & I could have been killed this morning at work

This was not my employer the City of Omaha's fault. A contractor (think of it as a tank truck that pumps out septic tanks) at our plant came speeding through a work area. Jeff and I had no place to hide. We were up against Jeff's truck. It missed us by no more than a foot of space going at least 30 miles per hour. I jumped in my truck. I chased the truck down to the unloading area. I was mad. I let this guy have it. I told him we have a 25 MPH limit in the plant. He said " I thought that was the speed I was driving at" or something like that. I told him that is under the best possible conditions. Workers in the road have the right of way at ALL TIMES. You didn't even try to slow down. No brake, not even a down shift. I told him there is no room for error with safety in our plant. Any more problems with his company will result in being banned from our plant without exception. I called the manager that handles this as soon as I started to walk away.

Management was on the spot in just a few minutes to talk to the driver and the person in the passenger seat. He went over the same things I did. Before he got back to his office the company had called. The company says their employees denied the entire event. Management continued to back us up. Whether their employees deny it or not, ANY other complaint will result in barring the company from our plant permanently. It is wonderful to have management taking swift action to protect Jeff and I. I wish all employees could have the secure knowledge they will be protected at work like we were today. I'll be sending a link to this post to the manager. Please express DU's gratitude in a reply.

I can't imagine that driver ignoring what should be just basic common sense. Glad you guys did not get injured.

7. Clearly your company understands the value of good workers.
Good for you for speaking up. And thanks and praise to your managers for appreciating your worth and looking out for you.
