Tuesday, January 17th, 2006

In their latest attempt to appear mainstream, an activist gay group is planning on ruining the annual White House Easter Egg Roll by turning it into a political demonstration:

FOR OVER A HUNDRED YEARS children have gathered on the South Lawn of the White House on the Monday after Easter to roll Easter eggs across the yard and meet the Easter Bunny. Seemingly few (if any) Washingtonians have ever tried to exploit the annual White House Easter Egg Roll for political purposes. Until now. A church-based homosexual rights group is planning to crash the event with a “family visibility action” to spotlight their non-traditional families.

....

How an activist gay group thinks that crashing an annual family event at the White House and turning it into a parade of human debris will make mainstream America accept them is beyond me. Here’s how they intend to do this:

....

I don’t have any idea how the White House plans to deal with this protest, but I have a suggestion: repeat what they did a year or two ago and only invite military families to this year’s Easter Egg Roll. Then, it won’t matter how they stand in line, they won’t get in.

If you’re thinking that these activist groups are just trying enjoy the holiday, think again. The email sent out to promote this event dispels that notion right away:

....

So, apparently they know what they are doing is going to cause a disturbance, and the real reason they want everyone to show up in their t-shirts is to embarrass President Bush and his Administration. Also, they have a plan in case they aren’t allowed into the event:

Soulforce and the Family Pride Coalition warned that if the Bush administrations gets wind of their special plans, the White House Egg Roll may be declared an invitation-only event. If somehow blocked from entrance, the “LGBT” families are encouraged to still stick around outside the White House and talk to the media.

One way or another, it seems, they’re going to cause a disturbance at this event. They don’t care about the children they’ll upset, you know, the people that this event was created for. All they care about is their political agenda, and they’ll do whatever they can if they think it will help achieve it.

What a bunch of jerks.

2. Attention, demented fucked-up religious fundies:
YOU made being gay political, by casting gays and lesbians as the enemies of society. By waging war on them because -- it becomes increasingly clear -- your own tawdry religion has nothing positive to offer anyone, gay or straight.

Now you accuse them of "politicizing" an event... simply by showing up. How convenient for you.

And then, when they simply show up and stand around enjoying themselves as the kids roll eggs... that's when the religionist freaks are going to cause a big scene. That's when they're going to ruin the event for everyone -- with their own shrill, bigoted, hateful, hurtful shrieking.

And blame it on the same-sex families who did nothing more than join in a tradition for American citizens.

Religionist fundies = America's true enemy.
