Mouse Thrown Into Fire Sets Home Ablaze (mouse revenge)
Mouse Thrown Into Fire Sets Home Ablaze

POSTED: 6:25 pm EST January 8, 2006

FORT SUMNER, N.M. -- A mouse got its revenge against a homeowner who tried to dispose of it in a pile of burning leaves. The blazing creature ran back to the man's house and set it on fire.

Luciano Mares, 81, of Fort Sumner said he caught the mouse inside his house and wanted to get rid of it.

"I had some leaves burning outside, so I threw it in the fire, and the mouse was on fire and ran back at the house," Mares said from a motel room Saturday.

Village Fire Chief Juan Chavez said the burning mouse ran to just beneath a window, and the flames spread up from there and throughout the house.

1. Well, I guess in this case revenge is a mouse that is best served hot.
Shame on that man for throwing the mouse in the fire, alive, but that's a pretty extreme consequence for doing so.

Probably not from the mouse's point of view.

14. Not from the mouse's point of view.
If the mouse's point of view is revenge, that is. Look, I have no sympathy for the guy. But in terms of karma, the consequences were extreme. Maybe his entire life caught up with him in that moment, eh?

16. Karma?
well...ok. I guess. Actually, I'm not sure if I really get the whole karma thing as a form of human-centric moral rectitude. There's always so many assumptions involved when we throw that one around. I was thinking more about the value of a life vs. the loss of this gentleman's property. I suspect the mouse didn't survive our brother's particular style of cruel disregard. What kind of person throws live animals into a fire anyway?

Every front has a back they say...

Anyhow, in my way of thinking a life is a life.

(Not too fond of human beings. Could you guess?)

5. Serves him right ...
... he had the mouse out of his house, and had the choice of simply letting it go, or throwing it alive into a fire to burn to death.

What kind of person does something like that? The kind of person who deserves to watch his own house go up in flames.

9. Good mousey!
I love it. I feel bad for the mouse though. I wish everyone would lose something dear every time they subject an animal to unnecessary pain.

12. Good for the mouse.
Why couldn't the guy just release it if he caught it? Throwing it in a fire is unecessarily cruel. Can't say I feel bad for the guy.

Don't fuck with the mouse.
