White House Spin on Leak - It wasn't about Plame!
Edited on Thu Apr-06-06 12:14 PM by Vinnie From Indy
Firstly, the White House has had ample time and the ability to eavesdrop on everyone, so this particular revelation has already been run through the spin cycle for days if not weeks.

The official line coming across the cable news propaganda outlets is that Libby was given authorization by Cheney with Smirky's approval to release portions of a highly classified National Intelligence Estimate in which there was information relating to Niger and yellowcake. The estimate also had a great deal of info on Valerie Plame. BushCo is claiming that the authorization was only for the Niger information and not the Plame info. BushCo also contends that it was perfectly legal to release the Niger info because the President can, with the wave of his hand, declassify any document.

The cable news harlots will make the BushCo point and immediately move back to Cynthia McKinney and to the latest missing white girl/murdered white girl/white minister being killed by his white wife/BE AFRAID story.

so he's the best leading Democrat in position to address this story and head off the spin. Kerry's got to use strong condemnation language in order to get coverage on the evening news.

4. true. Everyone should calm down. It's about Libby, but not about Plame
go to firedoglake and read the analysis as it comes out. The comments are good there too.

The release is a 39 page document and some confusing information is coming out about it.

Bush is implicated in leakage, but it was Iraq stuff, not Plame.

5. .....and to add to the White House Spin by Vinne From Indy.
junior would like to give the American people a more detailed report, but because of National Security we'd be giving vital information to the terrorist.

7. Watch for Victoria Toensing, her hubby, Ed Meese, or the entire Fed Soc.

They are gong to obfuscate the difference between NIE and Plame.

Yes, they had plenty of time to come up with this stage of obfucsation.

First one to warn us of the first sighting of a Fed Society operative gets an recognition du jour from we posters!

8. Its not spin, its accurate, if you've been following the details.
Sorry, but they are accurately reporting what Libby said. He is spinning it, sure, but its fact that Libby never said Bush told him to leak Plame. Bush told him to leak something else. Libby's story is that this is why he (Libby) thought he was authorized to leak Plame.

Exactly, the excuse is going to be ...
it was all just a big misunderstanding between Cheney and Libby. Nothing criminal here just more incompetence. Move along people!

9. But if....
Edited on Thu Apr-06-06 12:13 PM by ksokol
that document also contained classfied info on a NOC operative and anyone reading the document would be able to track down/figure out the identity out the operative from the info, isn't it the same as outing by name?

Sneaky and vile.

Then shouldn't those parts of the document be part of the Plame investigation, not somehow separate from it? I highly doubt they redacted the parts about Plame when showing the document to Novak/Miller and *obviously* they wanted to info to leak out.

I would think this would help Fitzgerald prove his case with evidence of where exactly the Plame info came from.

12. If this is true, Bushco will have to prove that it excluded the Plame info
There should be a written communication saying that, right? I'm willing to bet they can't produce it, though. If that document had Plame info in it, and it apparently did, and we know the White House was going ballistic about the "paid vacation" Wilson got "from his wife," it's not believable that they gave the NIE to Scooter and told him to not mention Plame.

14. Remember how * refused to be interviewed by the investigators under oath?
He was dodging a perjury charge even then. (Talk about knowingly misdirecting the investigation!)
