1. Yes, some of us.
The Afghan and Iraqi constitutions are just cover for the real "laws." There ain't no freedom on the march.

2. Afghans decided to have a Constitution based on Sharia
Law. They were liberated from the Taliban so that they could chose whatever the politicians with the most power wanted.

5. I think to be fair-and i certainly do not know all the details, how the
Quran is interpreted, which groups in power (or dominate through fear, violance)---will determine what actually goes on). There is obvious support for the fundamentalist view--converting to christianity and get death-).

6. Freedom already marched into Afghanistan. Mission Accomplished!
They had their elections with their purple fingers and everything.

So, why are we complaining?

Why do the same people who falsely claim that America is a "Christian Nation" complain when another country wants to base their government on their own invisible man in the sky myth?

And why weren't they complaining-- in fact, some of them were cheering-- while people in Afghanistan and Iraq were being executed for being gay?

Freedom isn't on the march. Christianity is on the march. Oil is on the march. Freedom is just the logo painted on the shields of the Crusaders.

It's not a march. It's a Crusade. Brought to you by Pat Robertson, Halliburton, and The Bush Family Evil Empire.

7. Bush will say anything. A man with no real values.
Does he ever do what he talks about? Well making war yes, but before he got in he said no nation building. Now he is a war lover. He is a hard man to believe in anything he tells us. Just why are we giving Millions to a country that wishes to kill this man? I wonder what they would do if you said you believes in nothing?

10. The Bush administration really doesn't care about human rights in Afghanis
Look at this quote, from the article:

"Asked whether the U.S. government was doing anything to secure Rahman's safety after his release, State Department spokesman Sean McCormack said in Washington that where he goes after being freed is "up to Mr. Rahman." He urged Afghans not to resort to violence even if they are unhappy with the resolution of the case."

12. Because other afghanis are "free" to kill him if they find him.
There's actually two levels of oppression in afghanistan. The sharia law as interpreted to require death for apostasy, and chaos where extremists and warlords act in the vaccuum left by a weak government. The government AND the lack of government are oppressive to individuals. Bush solved one with a backroom deal (boxes of cash, probably) and washes his hands of the other.

13. Just think, if Bush and his cohorts have their way it would.......
.....all happen just that way right here within our own shores too.

I'm truly beginning to think there is something to this end of the world crap. I'm not necessarily talking from a religious point of view but just from a "for every action there is a reaction" point of view.

I hear, from all sorts of people (religious and non-religious), that they feel a "tension in the air that you can cut with a knife" and people are expecting things to blow up any time. I think people are waiting for the 2006 elections but if another election goes haywire anything could happen after that and I don't think it would be pretty either.

15. I have a question
do you honestly, really feel the "if Bush and his cohorts have their way it would all happen just that way...here?"

I'm assuming you meant that someday here we will give the death penalty for refusual to believe in Christian dogma?

What I want to know is whether you are exagerating for effect or do you honestly feel this is where we are heading?

.....and the fundies continue to have their way I truly think some form of even stricter religious fanaticism could happen right here within our shores.

No, I did not say anything on my previous post or this one for affect.

on edit: I wanted to add that I don't think we desperately need to get back to a "separation of church and state". Believe, I am NOT anti-religion but this stuff is getting out of hand.

18. You don't think we need to get back to a "separation of church and state?
I really do hope you are kidding. Because I think we need to take religion right the hell back out of politics. Either that, or we start taxing the church. Just my 2 cents. :-)

.....should have been a "do". We DO need to clear and permanent separation of church and state. Sorry for the miss up - will fix that quick - if I can still edit that post.
