Texas Youth Join Immigration Protests
In Houston:

In Dallas:

The last one is my favorite. The AP/Yahoo caption states:

Rene Martinez, an administrator with the Dallas Independent School District, urges high school students to board buses and go back to class, in Dallas, Monday, March 27, 2006, after they walked out to protest the proposed immigration reform bill being considered by Congress. Viva Tejas Youth! And Yeehaw too!

1. If you're not fond of the subject matter...
...consider these photos instructional. This is non-violent protest at it's finest.

2. This is for a good cause, but why do I get the feeling most of those
students only did it to get out of class? :P

3. That happened to me once
...sort of. We sure as hell weren't protesting anything except high school sucking.

My senior year was the 25th anniversary of my high school. Our then Mayor was a graduate of it's first senior class. During a school-wide ceremony, the Mayor spoke to us. He said:

"I've always wanted to do this and now that I'm the Mayor, I can. CLASS DISMISSED!"

Well, needless to say, very few of around 400 high school students bothered to watch the Superintendant of schools snatch the microphone away from the Mayor and beg us to turn around. We made the national news. All day long, the Superintendant was on local radio, pleading with us to "Come back. All is forgiven." Good times.
