American domestic & foreign polity: Banality, Bullshit, Bullets, and Blood
Unflattering exposure of PNAC is occuring more frequently……

The Pearl

It’s quite normal for a son to want to follow in his Daddy’s career footsteps and to dream of exceeding the accomplishments of the old geezer. But what if you’re Genghis Jr., or Attila Jr., or George II? That can complicate matters a little. How to outdo Daddy’s deeds  when he was so devilishly good at what he did? How many people can a Vlad Jr. impale? You almost have to have a plan. In modern times you need a PNAC. And with the help of people like Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, Paul Wolfowitz, Richard Perle, Jeb Bush, Eliot Abrams, and others, including the ultra-nasty Karl Rove. George Jr. got one. Or maybe it got him

PNAC (Project for a New American Century), was think tank whose deep ruminations and profound ponderings had been bubbling and percolating and sending up sulfurous fumes  since even before the time of that other profound thinker Ronald Reagan (‘Ideas are stupid things.’), and which had advocated, amongst other items, a ‘winnable’ nuclear war against the Soviet Union. Now it just needed the right leader to come along, plus, please, please, please, a ‘new Pearl Harbor event’ to galvanize citizens into stupefied compliance,  a PNAC panic, and their gift to the world could be wrapped in just the right colorful tissues of  patriotism, freedom, democracy, and Christian values. A flag-wrapped  American Crusade for global domination. And George was just the guy to deliver the package, which actually contained those usual staples of American domestic and foreign polity: Banality, Bullshit, Bullets, and Blood. That was the real 4-B Plan for the New American Century that its patient proponents had waited so long to implement.

Project for the New American Century: It’s not a hoax
By JOAN BAXTER

-snip-

So, who are these people that are willing to topple governments and wage lethal warfare to protect their "interests" and extend their leadership? Under what rock are they hiding in the Middle Eastern or North African deserts, while they mobilize all their new weapons of mass destruction and their malicious expansionist dreams?

No rock at all, it turns out. Most of them are in power in Washington. They are members of the Project for the New American Century (PNAC), started in 1997 by a surprisingly familiar set of names and faces. There is U.S. Vice-President Dick Cheney, Secretary of Defence Donald Rumsfeld, and his former deputy Paul Wolfowitz who now runs the most powerful financial institution on Earth, the World Bank. There is Jeb Bush, brother to George W. Then there’s Elliot Abrams, who pleaded guilty in 1991 to withholding information from the U.S. Congress on the Iran-Contra affair, now deputy national security adviser in the U.S. and special assistant to President Bush, son-in-law to two other signatories to the PNAC Statement of Principles, Norman Podheretz and Midge Decter.

The list of people in this illustrious and wealthy "Project" is impressive, like the who’s who in the American power base, and easily searched online, as are their links to corporate America – Lockheed-Martin, the Northrop Grumman Corporation, GAMA Corporation, the Carlyle Group, Halliburton and all sorts of corporations involved in military, pharmaceutical, biotechnology or chemical production that have profited massively from the military buildup. They are also closely linked to the growing web of so-called "non-partisan" and "non-profit" policy research or educational organizations such as the Hudson and Hoover Institutes, the American Enterprise Institute and the National Endowment for Democracy.

The Project for the New American Century is actually an initiative of the National Citizenship Project, which is financed by the likes of the John M. Olin Foundation that grew out of the family business of producing chemicals and munitions, and the Lynde and Harry Bradley Foundation that promotes individualism, "People for the American Way," fundamentalist Christian causes such as Focus on the Family, and also donates generously to the American Enterprise Institute.

And so the tangled web is woven, and the plot thickens.

Bin Laden and Bush, Wolfowitz and War: What is it good for? Absolutely Nothing

Some years ago something turned up in my e-mail Inbox titled “The Project For A New American Century”

It was a snappy little document authored by (now) head of the World Bank, Paul Wolfowitz with I believe the assistance of Rumsfeld, Cheney and many more setting out a vision of America being the only world superpower in the 21st century and how in order to achieve this they needed to secure control of Middle Eastern oil and would therefore have to come up with some premise for invading Iraq sometime soon to finish off what Papa Doc Bush failed to do in 1991.
