India in new peace overture

India has called for a "treaty of peace, security and friendship" with Pakistan that would replace decades of hostility with a common quest for progress.

"The time has come to leave behind the animosities and the misgivings of the past and to think the unthinkable of moving together in pursuit of our common objective of getting rid of chronic poverty, ignorance and disease," said Manmohan Singh, India's prime minister.

"I make this offer to the people of Pakistan on this historic occasion," Singh said in Amritsar before inaugurating a new bus service between the two countries.

"I am sure the leadership of Pakistan will reciprocate."

Singh said India was committed to the peace process, adding that it could bring enormous economic benefits to the people of both sides. And there was a growing recognition in both countries that "terroriIsm is an enemy of civilised societies".

Awwww. After the rights to get all sorts of new, fun nukes and India doesn't want to use them?

I'm sure Pakistan will reciprocate too. Let's tell everybody "We want peace!" and everybody will blindly lay down for us. I mean, look at this face:

Surely that expression is 100% genuine, no?

Let's be grateful call their IT support staff or AOL billing department staff don't have the ability to press the button.

My comments are 100% :sarcasm: BTW.

What isn't sarcastic is his claim of ending poverty. Amazing how many people all over the world say that, yet how poverty only seems to get worse.
