think up a good TV ad for 06
Here's mine.

"Thinking about voting Republican in 06?"

Cue the scene from PLANES, TRAINS & AUTOMOBILES where Martin and Candy are driving on the wrong side of the highway.

Run it from the "you're going the wrong way!" bit to where their car rams through the trucks... Martin hallucinating Candy as the Devil, cackling away as sparks fly everywhere...

"You may want to think again..."

Nothing brilliant; it would probably never be allowed, but I can dream.

1. Okay since we are dreaming
- "Christian Conservatives" at the court house filing for their second divorce. Fade to a gay man at a hospital by the bedside of his partner denied insurance coverage because they are not married.

2. Real simple one
But I'm sorta simple minded anyway. But anyway here we go; There is a montage of a lot of the stupid things that the repubs have done. This goes on for about 27 seconds and then a voice says, "Had enough? Vote Democrat." Ok so it may not be the greatest, but in my minds eye, I can see it and it may work.

7. I like it. I'm imagining pigs at a trough...
For some reason, this seems like a kernel of an idea. After another cup of coffee, I'll probably regret posting it.

Pigs at a trough, slop dripping over the edge. Perhaps they wear neckties. They're clearly Rep-I say we campaign as the party of small government.
*But we grew the govermnent more than...
-Aw, hush! We'll call ourselves fiscally conservative.
*But didn't we ruin the surplus...
-We can blame them! Even though...
+ we control the whole government! That's precious!
-Good slop! And we'll... (munch, gulp).. talk about morality and (gulp)
+And integrity! Haaaa haaaa!
-Ha! And security.
+ Voting rights! Ha!
*And no nation building and humble foreign...
-Oh, that's so 2000. But we'll (belch) invade the wrong country and (squeal!) call anybody a traitor if they think it's wrong!
(+If they think at all!)
-We'll be richer than ever!
+Tax cuts (squeal)!
-No bid contracts! (belch!)
*This is great for us, but will the voters ever catch on to our lies?
silence.
+Um.
-Terror alert!
All together: Terror alert! (squeal) terror alert! Terror alert!

5.  An announcer starts with "Had enough?"
Then a high speed sound montage of Bush, Cheney, Rummy, FOX news talking heads and right wing religious nuts like Dobson, Falwell and Robertson comes on with all the lies and the batshit insane comments they've made in the last 5 1/2 years superimposed over pictures of 9/11, the war, the angry protests in foreign countries and the national debt statistics. Then it ends with the announcer saying "Not what you had in mind? Hold them accountable. Vote Democrat for a change."

6. Here is my favorite
The commercial would be a take off of the GOP '04 election commercial with the "scary" wolves in the forest. The commercial would open the exact same with a camera panning through a dense mist shrouded forest. Through the trees the viewer can see dark shapes (wolves) running to and fro among the trees. There is the sound of footsteps and then a loud belch followed by the sound of a zipper being lowered and then a stream of urine is heard hitting the ground. A distinctly female voice is heard giggling a few feet away and then an empty beer can is dropped in the camera's view on the forest floor. Suddenly a voice is heard calling "Hey Dick look what I ..." followed immediately by a very loud gunshot. The camera wheels around to see an old man falling to the ground holding a quail and spurting blood into the air. A woman shrieks and the commercial cuts to the words, "There are more frightening things in the woods than wolves - Vote Democrat '08"

11. Multiple panels, like the Foster's ads. GOP: off target again. (Whittingt
Something that uses the Cheney incident to highlight how GOP policies are off target, too.
Pix of a Quail / Harry Whittington in one row.
Next row: Osama Bin Laden / burned out Iraq scene
GOP: consistently off target.

Vary the second panels for the various ways that GOP's policies are consistently miss the mark (with respect to the duties of office and needs of Americans). Like Bush debating Gore, "I will balance the budget no matter what happens." and the next panel shows a chart of economic decline.

8. The Daily Show (w/ Jon Stewart) had a list of crimes one episode...
...

They did it like a multiple choice thing, they had Snotty McMoonface quote, and then asked what it referred to:

A) NSA spying
B) Abramoff Scandal
C) Lies about Iraq
D) PlameGate
(pause)
E) DeLay indictment
F) (something else)
G) (something else)
H) (something else)
I) (something else)
J) (something else)
.
.
.
.
Greek letter Theta) (something else)

It was hysterical.

fellow nazis such as Goebells and Himmler then show Bush, Condoleeza Rice, Dick Cheney, and Rumsfeld. The commercial would all be in silence until the end and then a stark message would appear, "Don't let it happen here"

It would be funny because it is so outrageous that it would get a lot of media attention like the swift boat commericials did.

12. Here's one GOP Flossom Prison Blues
Edited on Tue Mar-14-06 11:12 AM by DanCa
It starts with the scenes from flossom prison jail. The one with the prison yard and the gaurds on duty. Complete with the black crow on the telephone pole. Than you hear the band getting ready to play for flossom prison music. Now you see legs tapping to the beat. Next you hear Johnny Cash start singing as a scroll bar appears with the name of every republican thats under investigation. Fade to Black.

13. Ohh...if I was doing a commercial
I'd show images of Reverend Moon and the Republican elephant, and then slowly show images of every televangelist as running the party in Congress - followed by a list of the corrupt politicians and every "sin" they've committed.

14. A montage of positive and inspiring quotes
from the dem candidates' speeches in 2006. Keep it uplifting and emotionally charged, don't go negative, voters are getting turned off by that.

End the montage with a simple "Vote Democratic 2006".

Compassionate? Play clip of bush mocking that woman he had executed or victims of Katrina.

Competent? Clip on Iraq.
