Graham preaches in New Orleans
NEW ORLEANS - In his first public sermon in nine months, evangelist Billy Graham delivered his message of repentance and salvation to an overflow arena crowd in this city slowly recovering from devastation.

The 87-year-old required a walker to get to the podium but was greeted with a standing ovation and screams from the capacity crowd of 16,500 inside New Orleans Arena. Another 1,500 people watched on a large screen on a concourse joining the arena to the Superdome — an evacuation center where flooding and rancid conditions reigned the week after Hurricane Katrina hit Aug. 29.

2. Two points, before or after you are done puking...
Unlike the truly offensive fundies - Graham has made the point repeatedly, that hurricanes happen, they aren't punishment to anyone for any reason. Also, Graham was visibly shaken after viewing the devastation.

Billy Graham is to modern day fundies, what paleocons are to the neocons. I'd love to have 1,000's of Billy Grahams back in the pulpit across the nation as compared to the current crop of self-absorbed, profit-motivated, judgmental, homophobic asshats who now occupy too many churches.

I don't agree with everything he says, but I do respect him (unlike his son Franklin and other modern fundies of the same ilk).

THEY are not all alike.

3. What would Graham say..
if I asked him if I could get into heaven even though I haven't accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord savior?

4. Billy would say that decision is made by his superiors
Franklin would say you were doomed to hell.

5. I agree with Erika - Billy would say that is between you and God...
And Billy has preached a WHOLE LOT more about God's mercy than he has about an 'angry God'...

I am sorry, very sorry, that he and others of his generation did not have the courage to preach that we are all God's children --

Still, it is better for you and for us all to recognize that THEY are not all the same.
