MSM Promoting INDIA Every Day This Week: HERE'S WHY -->
I'm sure you all have noticed that every time you turn the news on this week, the media has been promoting India as some kind of wonderful paradise where Americans are relocating in droves for lucrative jobs. Where Indian managers openly say, "Come to India!" And where stupid pundits who have no clue continue to propogate the LIE that outsourcing jobs to India is wonderful because it actually frees up capital to U.S. companies who then hire more workers here in the U.S. Bullshit on that one - that extra money goes to 1) Top management; and 2) Hiring more cheap workers in India.

But it really made me wonder WHY. WHY is the mainstream media choosing THIS WEEK to promote India. Then it hit me.

The continuation of a robust military program – and a special American exception carved out for India, which never has signed the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty that more than 170 other nations have signed since 1970 – will make the deal between Bush and Singh a tough sell in Congress. American law prohibits the U.S. from sharing its nuclear technology with nations that have not signed the treaty or have tested weapons.

Wonder of wonders, Bush is in India this week to announce an agreement with that country which would allow the sharing of U.S. nuclear technology. However, there's one problem. IT IS ILLEGAL. Therefore, in order to push Bush's illegal pact with India through, India has to be seen as an exciting, friendly new country that not only is our ally, but is almost an extension of America in a way. This would put the American public at ease and would put pressure on Congress to OK Bush's plans. India is a friendly country, so the hell with our laws, why not? That's the idea.

Yep, 'ol Karl Rove has been making the calls to the MSM for sure. Sell India so Bush can push his illegal pact with India through. I just HOPE Congress is smart enough to see through all this.

1.  You just HOPE Congress is smart enough to see through all this
You are JOKING, right?

They're promoting India, because that's where King george is right now. If he tells them to bark and sit up, they'll do so, and probably go fetch a stick if asked nicely.

I mean, they might miss him telling something honest and factual. Or they might miss him LYING, and then not get the chance to NOT REPORT IT.

corporations to offshore their IT operations to India.

Those companies announced their intentions, and once the dominant giants -- HP, IBM, Compaq, Intel, the telecoms, etc., etc. -- did it, their competitors almost had to follow suit in order to compete.

So, what can do about it now? Domestic content legislation is the place to start. That should be the Dems #1 economic and trade issue, starting right now.

Read Arundhati Roy's hilarious comic-tragic piece at

http://jmpolitics.blogspot.com/2006/03/arundhatis-take-on-bush-visit-to-india.html

And read my Opinion piece at "Raise the Hammer"

"Geostrategy Feeds America's Oil Addiction"

The Indians know full well it is totally illegal

But why worry about such simple niceties when the US Congress and Senate are there to rubber stamp whatever their infallible pResident does, and the Democrats live to fight the "next" battle?

12. I assume you mean "politically"
As in what will be the propaganda line used to quiet the pitchforkers?

India is a democracy, not communist. They're "an ally in a dangerous neighborhood."

14. Good points
But China holds most of our national debt. If they're not an "ally", what are they? An "enemy"?

BTW, to the two replies so far, I'm not a flaming right winger. I'm usually accused of being a "leftist", which these days means I'm a moderate.

I'm just sick to death of the double standard. If those creeps are going to continue insisting that "Clinton sold nuke-ya-ler secrets to the Chinese", then by God I'm gonna hang Bush for selling "nuke-ya-ler secrets to India."

But some facts would help me out, and I don't know enough about the Clinton deal.

16. China is the "most feared enemy" we have
Yes, it's oxymoronic that they also hold "most favored nation" trade status. But that's the "reality" of neofascist national security policy: the (formerly) American People must be protect up and until the point it starts to eat into the profits.

And BTW, facts won't help you out with the creeps. They've been well-trained to despise facts. Yes, really.

They only act on belief, not knowledge.

When they "insist" on some falsehood (like the Clinton/China thing) try telling them that "eveybody knows that's not true" and/or "nobody believes that stuff anymore."

It really is more effective than trying to persuade or convince them of something using more information.

I know this might sound irrational, but it's because you're part of the reality-based community (that they so despise).

26. That's good
BTW, you're right when you say "the Clinton/China thing" is a "falshood."

"Fact check: The allegations that China received nuclear secrets from the United States in exchange for contributions to the 1996 elections are unproven."

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2000/10/27/politics/main244829.shtml

But what the heck. I'm gonna take your advice and just say "eveybody knows that's not true."

17. In my opinion,
Bush is rewarding the terrorists by giving them our ports AND some U.S. plants that make military equipment - and at the same time, he's also rewarding countries who refuse to sign the Nuclear Proliferation Treaty by giving such countries our nuclear secrets.

It's all about the MONEY, and the hell with our laws and our national security.

21. You have to wonder how Pakistan feels about this
you remember them, "an important ally in the global war on terra", right? Well, India is their traditional enemy; the ongoing dispute over Kashmir very nearly went nucular a few years back. I can't imagine Musharraf is thrilled about the prospect of the USA bending over backwards -- breaking its own law, no less -- in order to hand nukes to his enemy right next door. :eyes:
