Is there ANY good news? Anywhere?
I have noticed that every time a rethug administration comes to office the country of course takes a downward spiral. However what is most prevalent is the sense of hopelessness that the rethugs bring.
I read the news and none of it is good.I marvel at the general feeling Clinton brought. There was such an optimism in then.

3. If the country was booming
in the Eisenhower years, how come my dad was laid off from his job at one of the auto manufacturers so much?

5. Eisenhower knew where to place tax burden though.
The top marginal rate was 91 percent to and through the Eisenhower years.

2. They came into office fraudulently...
and it's been one tragedy, disaster or war ever since. And the nastiness and resentment and polarization they've brought to this country are going to be here for a while, sadly.

8. * is the worst of the lot but rethugs in general bring pessimism.
It is like a general malaise spreads across the country.

6. Republicans say they are happy
Wish I could do that. Have a car wreck and get out smiling, saying it was one of my best days ever. I envy those deluded bastards.

9. Yes, there is good news! I have it right here! It's not all bad!
Chin up!

From: http://www.rasmussenreports.com/

"Just 39% of Americans now believe the U.S. and its allies are winning the War on Terror. That's down from 42% earlier this month and from 44% in January. With just one exception, this is the lowest level of confidence ever measured by Rasmussen Reports."

AND MORE GOOD NEWS!

Just 17% of Americans believe Dubai Ports World should be allowed to purchase operating rights to several U.S. ports. A Rasmussen Reports survey found that 64% disagree and believe the sale should not be allowed.

(snip)

From a political perspective, President Bush's national security credentials have clearly been tarnished due to the outcry over this issue. For the first time ever, Americans have a slight preference for Democrats in Congress over the President on national security issues. Forty-three percent (43%) say they trust the Democrats more on this issue today while 41% prefer the President.

AND ONE MORE RAY OF SUNSHINE!

Monday February 27, 2006--Forty-three percent (43%) of American adults approve of the way George W. Bush is performing his role as President. That's his lowest Job Approval Rating since January 12.

11. to me

the essential difference boils down to creativity. Real creativity feels dangerous, raises issues that really challenge us and scare the more feeble minds. It also makes everyone involved or touched by it feel their time was well spent, whatever the money or effort. Right now even the important and good stuff feels mostly dreary and beside the point.

The major good thing going on these days is that a lot of shit between the ears of a lot of Americans has dried and begun to burn.
