OH BROTHER DEPT.: "Cheney comes home seeking a hug and healing"
:puke:

CHEYENNE - The need to feel loved and to be wrapped in a warm, fuzzy embrace is a powerful force, a basic human longing that cries out the loudest after life's emotional upheavals.

Common examples are divorce, loss of a job or after you've accidentally shot one of your friends in the head with a shotgun during a quail hunt.

And so it was on a bitterly cold Friday at the state Capitol of Wyoming as Vice President Dick Cheney, Wyoming's favorite son, came seeking a hug and received a thorough emotional warming from his oldest and dearest friends.

"Thank you for that welcome," he said to the Wyoming legislators following a 50-second standing ovation. "It's nice to be home. That's especially true when you've had a very long week."....

1. Now THAT's pukeworthy.
Hugging Cheney. We commie pinko liberals are known for our desire to hug things, but even I have to draw the line somewhere.

3. Why do I wonder if this writer isn't a sneaky, secret snark??
Aside from the bit about needing a hug after you've shot your friend in the head, there's this bit:

To honor his first appearance in the Capitol in four years, Wyoming lawmakers wore roses on their lapels and dresses. House members had red roses and Senate members had white roses. Many also had blue faces from walking through the minus-15 wind chill, lending quite a patriotic look to the festivities.

I swear, the whole thing reads like PRAVDA...where the best news is between the lines!

7. Poor Cheney had a very long week pondering how to ......
do damage control after shooting a friend in the face. Whittington was the one in the hospital with horrible injuries, but it's all POOR CHENEY, what an ordeal he has gone through. Can you imagine getting a 50 second standing ovation because you shot someone in the face and tried to cover it up. This article is enough to make your stomach churn:puke:

22. A few minutes before the
"Prodigal son's" return home, Rove and his aides were handing out fresh, crisp $100 dollar bills to the members of the legislature.

"Just a welcome-home present", said the aides. After Cheney spoke, he was given a standing ovation. NO WONDER.

10. "You know, you get into the national spotlight and it's so de-humanizing."
Edited on Mon Feb-20-06 04:11 PM by Rob H.
Cheney wasn't actually human to begin with, though.

Edited to add:

"Up here we understand accidents like the one (Cheney) had. Five years ago I shot an antelope and was field dressing it. A bee flew by and my son-in-law yelled and I stuck myself with my hunting knife. If you hunt, eventually there's some kind of accident."

Yeah. Sticking yourself with your own knife is exactly like taking a shotgun blast to the face, chest, and neck and winding up in the hospital where you later have a heart attack.

11. Did his daughter write this?
Even if she did, it's just creepy. If Madame Mary Matalin MacCheney wrote it, it's still creepy. ESPECIALLY if she wrote it.

Oh, wait. Maybe the Swiss Miss wrote it!

Now I've just squicked myself out. Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeew!!!!!!!!!

Edited on Mon Feb-20-06 04:07 PM by susu369
http://www.azcentral.com/arizonarepublic/news/articles/0218cheney0218.html

Cheney received two ovations from the Legislature, one when he was introduced and a second when state Senate President Grant Larson announced a recent $2.7 million gift from Cheney and his wife, Lynne, to the University of Wyoming.

He's conservative, but likes to go after everyone, especially the religous freaks in CO.
I grew up in CO, and we made fun of Wyoming all the time.

He's trying to be funny.
