10. He's longing for the days not so long ago when Iraq was his
biggest problem. Who knew we'd see the day when Bush is trying to divert attention to the war?

16. We have a winner.
Bush has a lot of problems, so he's trying to divert attention TO the war, because he thinks that it may be the only area in which he did anything bold (assuming you don't count cutting taxes as bold.)

And it seems that many Democrats, at least around here, WANT to come to grips with Bush at exactly that place on the political battlefield where he wants us to. That very place where it comes naturally for Bush and his people to talk about Freedom and Shining Cities on Hills. The very place where a lot of us end up talking about the evil imperialist United States, about how Iraq is some historically wacked-out society where democracy can't work, and about how FAILURE must be and is a 100% epistomological certainty. Hmmm. Wonder how all this will play in Peoria...

Half a league, half a league,
Half a league onward,
All in the valley of Death
Rode the six hundred.
"Forward, the Light Brigade!
"Charge for the guns!" he said:
Into the valley of Death
Rode the six hundred...

you know how he always says "everybody thought Saddam ______?"

Maybe he wants to get them on the record in support of his crazy scheme so he can cudgel the public with all these great authority figures, all politely agreeing with him, no doubt.

Or maybe he wants tactical help to figure out how to defeat evil.
