Coretta Scott King's funeral?

I pose the question b/c of this post I found in a DU discuss of W at the funeral.

I cannot even fathom his not putting this on his schedule until someone "made him a DVD" or something explaining all the living Presidents of the United States would be in Atlanta to honor her extraordinary leadership and the civil rights movement.

Someone must have made the point that if he didn't show...he would be over-the-top callous to the death and passing of a great American hero...the First Lady of civil rights.'

I wonder if he's throwing a tantrum and screaming at those advisors - given how things went for him today.

2. No Brainer Hooky

If it is indeed true that Mr. Bush didn't plan to attend Coretta Scott-King's funeral until he was instructed it was the politically prudent and correct thing to do, I'm not at all surprised. We are confronted by examples at every turn of his callous disregard for any agenda other than his own hawkish tendencies. Consider the 2007 budget, with it's huge school and arts cuts...then consider his lack of willingness to address the issue of big oil price gouging (arguably actions that affect millions of LIVING people), and it's not difficult to see why he would pass on attending the funeral of one of the greatest activists and human beings of our time.
