Poll question: I'm RADICAL! Who are you?
http://www.selectsmart.com/FREE/displayless/select.php?client=zeron
(Ideology Selector)

Are you RADICAL too?
Then there's a pair of us-don't tell!
They'd banish us, you know.

With apologies to Emily Dickinson...
http://www.beyondbooks.com/lit71/1f.asp
BTW, anybody have any info about the two versions? The one I linked to above is the one I remember from my childhood (have had it memorized for at least 40 years....), but I also found another version (actually, nevermind on the question--the link below has the answer):
http://www.cs.rice.edu/~ssiyer/minstrels/poems/711.html

Yes, I'm aware that some of the poll selections are pointless here, ;) ,but I wanted to list all the categories from the Ideology Selector website, in the interest of completeness.

2. I am in the radical middle - I believe the constitution should be upheld.
I am so far left that I believe democracy is more important than capitalism.

B-)

I just found this when I was looking for something else, and was amused to be labeled "radical," when I consider myself to be the epitome of sweet reason.... ;)

11. My answer
For 1 and 2- I am generally free-trade with our neighbors for issues both for economic self-determination and color-blindedness
3- I see no problems with the lottery, but maybe one could only have to collect if they still can reasonably (I don't want to force those who can't really work) work.
4- The estate tax is a good idea, but sometimes it hurts farmers. Perhaps exceptions could be made.
5- I support the 2nd amendment and there am pro-gun
6- I support the 14th amendment and therefore am pro-choice. Opposing Roe v. Wade while not talking about how the details of how abortion would be dealt with nor how we would handle the externalities (costs to taxpayer of enlarging the Criminal Justice system from investigation through punishment and dealing with abandoned infants) of the recriminalization of abortion is irresponsible.
7- Although I support the current law on IP, I think the suppression of napster is only the government's pandering to wealthy artist's unreasonable desire for the increase/maintainence of an unreasonable income. The market has produced a mechanism which makes traditional artists obsolete and we shouldn't subsidize (through funding or special rights) industrires which it is not the public's interest to do so, especially if it involves the unreasonable expectations of a few.
8- I supported the containment of Saddam
9- I support the 14th amendment and am therefore against the regulation of erotica, unless the erotica is the product of a crime which every reasonable person considers prosecution thereof as neccesiary
10- I am moderately free-trade, though the United States has an interest to assist those who are affected by China's abuse of their police power. We can use other methods than economic regulation.
11- This is not a political issue, this is a social issue where we should rely on the state's judgment in how to represent the their states to the others.
12- The war on drugs should be ended with soft drugs
13- We have an interest in protecting our allies if they are a modern and stable country in a primitive and dangerous reigon of the world.
14- I do not tolerate theocracy.
15- Spending on education should be increased and school choice should be expiremented with as a way to provide quality education and to promote educational diversity.
16- I support the 14th amendment and the freedom of contracts
17- The public must somehow be involved in the management of the enviroment.
18- The Massachuettes plan of sliding-scale health insurance assistance should become national.
19- Federal student aid is important to class mobility and economic freedom.
20- The death penalty is not 100% accurate and even euthanasia has proven to be painful. I oppose the death penalty because I recoil about the fact the I may be paying for the torture to death of an innocent person. A good first step would make funding of the death penalty discretionary to the tax payer.
21- tariffs protect the dignity of the worker, but we must create incentive to build industries that are country is better at doing.
22- Equal Oppurtunity is a neccesary evil though Affirmative Action should be modified to be made more productive and more available to all who are born at a disadvantage whether SES or race.
23- I support social security.
24- It seems unfair to punish those who only wish to serve their country, even if you are conservative republican who feels that homosexual behavior is a subversive practice.

Therefore, I am a

12. Another radical (big surprise there).
This nation is in desperate need of radical changes, without them we are on course for disaster of biblical proportions, we just have to defeat the negative connotation associated with the term.

My "guess" was left-libertarian, but the thing came back radical.

This quiz must have been around a while, asking opinions on the "no-fly zone" in Iraq. It's been a few years...

Socialist/Anarchist to be more specific.

Reading an interesting essay regarding post-Left Anarchists break with traditional leftwing thought in general and leftwing Anarchists specifically. I'll see if I can find the essay and post it here.

20. its a subsect of realism
called Contingent Realism

1. They reject the comeptition bias inherent in the neorealism, meaning they blieve there has to be a way to escape the Security Dilemma.
2. They disagree with sturtural realists on the concept of relative gains believing that states being rational units of self interest will realize that relative gains inherantly destablize the international theater meaning they'll accept rough parity.
3. They believe that neo-realists overemphasize the risks of cheating states when it comes to security regimes.

There is also the Mature Anarchy theory which in a nutshell states realize after blowing the absolute hell out of each other realize the cycle isn't sustainable and find seek ways to break free from the security dilemma, such as in the case of the European Union.
